POSITION DESCRIPTION
This opening is to replace the expat who going back to USA after 5yrs support in Asia Region, managing a team cross Asia Pacific Region and oversees all the technical related activities cross region.
PURPOSE OF JOB:

  • Technical Director is responsible for all aspects of technical support, application development and training of the products in the Asia Pacific region. This includes application engineering, technical assistance, warranty administration, product quality reporting, product training, lab testing and other technical support when required.
  • This position is also responsible for continuous improvement of regional processes including service related distributor communication, local troubleshooting, distributor training, improved product launch processes, and communication. The manager responsibility may include functional responsibility in multiple regions.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES/DUTIES:
1. Lead and manage the technical service functions including the Technical assistance, warranty claim processing and demonstration lab and or product demonstrations
2. Lead the development of new major new applications requiring material testing, system design and installation support (including training)
3. Manage the quality complaints and the follow up with the customers and distributors through local language quality reports
4. Manage the day to day communication with client product service managers to drive improvements in product quality
5. Provide on-site troubleshooting when necessary to determine the root cause and corrective action of product and or application issues
6. Provide technical service and product training to distributor and end users
7. Support the new product launch process by managing field tests and training sales and distribution on released product
8. Drive and the continuous improvement process in the region including processes to improve the support of sales and distribution partners
9. Manage the service and quality communication and reporting in the region, to the AP headquarters and corporate headquarters as required.
10. Responsible for being current with new processes and applicable technology
11. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager


POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
1. Fluent in English (written and verbal)
2. Bachelor ê ès degree in business, engineering, marketing, technical field or equivalent
3. 15+ years technical role with interaction with customers and/or distribution
4. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in a managerial role
5. Demonstrated ability to manage processes and personnel in multiple countries
6. Good communication, presentation, and writing skills
7. Must be able to work independently and display sound decision-making and problem solving
8. Track record of managing application engineers resulting in profitable sales growth
9. Willingness to travel without notice (approximately 50% of the time)
10. 10+ years in a related technical, technical sales & training management position
11. Track record of significant commercial impact in an application role.
Desirable:
1. 15+ years in a quality or service leadership role
2. Experience in the same markets, products and applications
3. Fluid handling product experience
4. Quality process certifications. Examples ¨C Lean, Six Sigma, QI, QII
5. Chinese, Japanese and or Korean language competency
