SUMMARY OVERVIEW

Responsible for leading the Design Engineering staff in prototyping and debugging efforts as assigned by the Business Unit, PMO, or Design Engineering Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

● Demonstrate a commitment to customer service; anticipate, meet and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively; making customer issues a priority.
● Confer with reporting manager on complex or unusual situations.
● Establish new measurement systems if/where possible.
● Exchange knowledge and information with other Jabil facilities to ensure best practices are shared throughout the Jabil organization.
● Maintain discretion and confidentiality in all areas pertaining to data and proprietary information, whether internal to Jabil or customer specific.
● Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists.
● Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
● Ability to work effectively under pressure with constantly changing priorities and deadlines.
● Organize Design engineering workload according to project and personnel capabilities.
● Provide Document control with a complete component, subassembly, and assembly design package including drawings and database.
● Provide Document Control with a complete design package consisting of schematics, BOM’s, vendor lists. Work concurrently with Jabil CAD Services, Business Unit Management, Manufacturing, Test, Purchasing, and Quality departments through the design phase of a program. Work to provide a design that not only meets the customer’s criteria, but is also of high quality, cost effective, and manufacturability.
● Provide Business Unit Management / Business Development with timely and accurate design quotations to aid in the quoting process including helping with the decision of the feasibility and technological merit of new opportunities.
● Support production discrepancies by incorporating fixes into subsequent revisions in a timely manner.
● Oversee assembly and test of engineering prototypes.
● Stay abreast of the latest technology and techniques to provide designs that are competitive and cost effective.
● Oversee the defining of procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
● Provide support to the Design Department through participation in the continuous improvement effort and promotion of a “Quality First” attitude.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

● Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university;
● Plus 4 or more year’s related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
