Day to Day Responsibilities:
Ongoing Tasks
Warehouse Supervision
- Apply leadership and supervisory skills to staff and operate the WuJiang warehouse efficiently and effectively.
- Organize and supervise the warehouse floor operations - both incoming receipts and outgoing shipments including full truckload, LTL, sea containers and parcel and courier deliveries.
- Organize and supervise the warehouse office to ensure efficient order releasing, shipping accuracy, effective incoming container planning, minimize shipping backlog and meet customers' service requirements.
- Continuously improves the cycle time and cost for processing orders and shipments to Corning's customers.
- Ensures all shipments fully comply with all applicable local government and global trade regulations and duties.
- Provide the controls to maintain accurate inventories, using cycle counting, etc.
- Maintain documentation of warehouse processes, procedures and policies. Conduct regular reviews of these and assess opportunities for improvements in cost, quality and service. Establish measurements to monitor proper execution of these processes, procedures and policies.
- Develop and track key metrics related to the performance of the warehouse. This includes maintaining a monthly scorecard to support Supply Chain and Division Vital Few.
- Effectively communicate warehouse performance, key initiatives, issues, changes to the CLS China organization and others.
- Effectively lead the development and implementation of continuous improvement in processes, work rules, teamwork, etc. Utilize Performance Excellence tools.Effectively communicate changes and improvement throughout the organization.
- Effectively manage the distribution NIC budget (dept 52300) to stay within target.
Supply Management
- Effectively collaborate with China Planning and the U.S. CenterPoint distribution center on shipment planning, discrepancy and issue resolution and improvement initiatives.
- Maintain subject matter expertise in CLS distribution processes and systems.
- Maintain current knowledge on China trade compliance and customs regulations.
- Work interactively with the Asia Supply Chain Mgr and the global supply chain team in the continual improvement of the supply chain. Reduce lead time, cost and asset investment.
HR
- Determine appropriate levels of staffing based on volume and customer requirements to meet quality, service and cost targets.
- Contract employees and temporary workers as needed for the warehouse.
- Schedule personnel based on order volume and staffing requirements.
- Ensure effective supervision of all warehouse personnel (floor and office).
- For direct reports, establish and manage by MBO's, conduct regular 1:1s, and performance reviews.
- With with Asia Supply Chain Manager and HT to support succession planning and talent reviews for warehouse personnel. Establish and manage learning and development plans for key individuals in the warehouse.
- Lead/conduct regular audits of warehouse employees to determine consistency in proper execution of warehouse processes, procedures and policies.
EHS
- Maintain good housekeeping conditions in working areas and observe local, national, and Corning specific environment, health and safety regulations and practices in daily work.
- Use knowledge of security, health and safety procedures to develop policies and practices to ensure safety and security for employees and goods and a safe and healthy environment on site.
- Manage the Environmental, Health and Safety programs and rules for the warehouse. - This includes making sure all appropriate programs and controls are in place, well communicated and understand, enforced and continually improved. Ensure active participation by the warehouse in the Safety & Health governance. Lead the completion of action items related to warehouse operations from safety inspections, risk assessments and audits.
Education & Experience
Required
- Junior college degree or above
- Minimum 5 years experience in Multinational Corporation, and 2 years or more on supervisor level
- Experience and knowledge of Supply Chain Systems such as warehousing, distribution and inventory management
Desired
- Experience with supervising a distribution center warehouse.
- Experience with global manufacturing and business through work or project experience.
