POSITION SUMMARY

POSITION DESCRIPTION
To work with the business to initiate; shape; scope; design and deliver business systems solutions that meet specific business needs. Be the common point of contact between all project stakeholders to ensure common understanding of plans; requirements and the solution. Support the Business Systems Manager; Service Manager or Business Systems Portfolio Manager with project management activities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • I support my team to deliver and/or manage other resources in delivering a service using analysis and judgment.

I split my time across the following key activities:

  • Working with business colleagues to understand their needs and opportunities;
  • Devising cost-effective solutions;
  • Documenting requirements and the business solution and securing signoff for them;
  • Planning; leading and delivering IT projects;
  • Supporting the Business Systems Manager; Service Manager or Business Systems Portfolio Manager.

I know I've done a great job if:

  • Quality developments are designed and delivered to plan and stakeholder/customer expectations are managed;
  • Business system solutions are designed on time; within budget and to the technology roadmap;
  • The business case for my solution is being achieved;
  • There is evidence that learning from each new solution is used to improve future ones;
  • I share knowledge and support colleagues to ensure customers receive the best level of service;

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The skills I need are:

  • Business Insight - Knowledge and experience of how our business operates and its relationship with IT
  • Business Analysis - describe and validate a business challenge
  • Systems Design - propose and evaluate solution options to meet a business challenge
  • Project Management - manages the successful fulfillment of project deliverables within timeframes; cost and quality standards
  • Implementation - deploy business ready solutions which are robust and sustainable

Experience required:

  • Using different systems analysis and design methods
  • Able to use appropriate methods for delivery of bespoke or package solutions
  • Using process and data modelling tools
  • Knowledge/perspective on applications futures and technology trends
  • Using project management tools and methodologies e.g. Prince/IT Way
  • People management
  • Making application decisions and working through the trade-offs
  • Lead users through project from initiation to testing and closure

Technical Skills:

  • The Hub/Sharepoint 2010
  • Microsoft Office 2010, 07, 03: Project, Visio, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access
  • Microstrategy
  • Visual Basic for Applications
  • Teradata SQL
  • Crystal Reports
