BASIC FUNCTION
Responsible for the Quality Control function in China. Oversees team of QC Inspectors. Works with Production Planning team for on time deliveries and factory approvals. Works with product development and materials management team to ensure quality is engineered into the product.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Hires, trains and leads the QC Team and provides support to them as needed.
2. Leads the Quality Assurance and Quality Control function within the company.
3. Manages staff in inspection and approval of bulk materials before production. Requests lab testing as needed.
4. Manages staff in inspecting production while on line and doing a final inspection once production is completed.
5. Works with factories to improve quality control and production processes.
6. Works with the Compliance Officer to check the qualifications of new factories.
7. Works with Production Planning team to ensure on time delivery with acceptable quality.
8. Consults with Product Development and Materials Management teams to ensure quality is engineered into the product.
9. Provides reports to management on QA/QC activities and factory performance.
10. Manages annual factory grading process.
11. Travels 60% of the time within China.
SKILLS
1. Requires an undergraduate level degree in an applicable field of study as well as a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a similar role.
2. Requires bi-lingual Chinese/English communication skills. Must also be able to read and write in English.
3. Requires previous management-level experience in a QC function start-up situation.
4. Must be able to work effectively in a team based environment.

1. Must be able to inspire trust with teammates, customers and vendors.
2. Ability to lead others and assist them in working through barriers and/or problem situations to achieve success.
3. Ability to work on cross-functional teams and effectively communicate with outside vendors and factory personnel.
4. Must be able to establish order and processes within a start-up organization.
5. Must be able to work independently with little direct supervision.
