General Position Summary:
Responsible for developing and maintaining a system to assure that all products manufactured by the company meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels. Is a member of the plant management team.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
? Establishes and maintains adequate quality control and inspection techniques, procedures, and coverage, such as inspection of incoming material, work in progress, and finished products to assure that the established standards of quality, accuracy, and performance are maintained.
? Develops special methods or procedures when necessary to meet customer requirement.
? Fully involvement on new product trial with technical department.
? Coordinate quality review meeting before new product’s mass production.
? Trace products shortage reason and prepare report.
? Conduct quality cost analysis
? Coordinates employee training in quality control and quality system orientation.
? Audits finished goods to ensure that customer specifications have been met.
? Meets with and communicates with customers to discuss and resolve quality matters.
? Answers technical questions from customers, and asks questions from customers when necessary.
? In the event of nonconformance of product specs, acts as liaison between sales and production.
? Meets with vendors, customers, quality personnel, and management to discuss and resolve quality problems as required.
? Prepares necessary reports as required by customers and management, including quality system performance reports to the Quality Council.
? Conduct monthly quality meeting and yearly management review meeting.
? Serves as Quality Coordinator/Team Leader for Total Quality Management (TQM) program and ISO 9001 system.
? Monitor and confirm that operational procedures are followed.
? Development of visual defect limits and color standards for internal and external customers.
? Auditing of specific jobs to insure specifications are met.
? Perform laboratory tests to guarantee quality standards.
? Process Capability Studies of manufacturing parameters.
? Assist in interviewing and screening of potential employees.
? Coordinates quality system internal audit program.
? Other duties as assigned.
Second Functions:
Assist operation manager in handling operational issues.
Acting as a backup when the operation manager is absent or under urgent situation.
Job Scope:
Exposed to job costing, customer and corporate projects, special techniques, and personnel matters. Must be exact on customer specifications, i.e. color, consistency, coating, etc. Must also be exact in data estimates and reasonable specifications. Errors in this area could have far reaching effects, be costly to correct and result in the loss of clients and the subsequent effects that would produce.
Judgment and analysis are required in making operational decisions on a day-to-day basis in regard to methods of operation. Frequently works under deadlines where interruptions are often. Close attention to detail is required in ail areas of job. Requires quick decisions and judgement under pressure. Must be able to maneuver efficiently and safely throughout plant and office. During inspections and evaluations, may be required to climb over, under or across equipment. Good manual dexterity is required. Must be able to distinguish color in all degrees.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Job has supervisory responsibility for quality engineers, inspectors and auditors.
Interpersonal Contacts:
Extensive contact with everyone in facility and other locations. Constant contact with sales, customer service and customers. Also has contact with vendors and suppliers. A professional appearance is required - grooming and dress consistent with high quality corporate image.
Specific Job Skills:
? Good communication skills (including listening, writing, speaking) required.
? Good organizational and leadership skills.
? Frequently works under deadlines where interruptions often occur.
Education and/or Experience:
? Minimum four to six years in printing/folding carton industry, with at least four years of quality assurance experience.
? A degree in engineering, chemical and printing packaging, university degree preferred.
? Must have strong statistical background, computer operation with emphasis on the following software packages: Q&A, SQC PAK.
? Must have extensive knowledge of printing, packaging, pharmaceutical, and FDA requirements.
? Must be proficient in Good Manufacturing Procedures and Total Quality Management Principles (TQM).
