1. Job Overview:

1.1  A Garment Technologist is responsible for the correct fit and performance of a garment. Working closely with the design team and factory, a Garment Technologist instructs on garment measurements and construction to enable correct 1st time right sampling. An important role, the garment technologist also liaises directly with factories, to ensure 1st Fit, Grades, Pre-Production Samples and Production samples are approved at every stage.

 

1. Responsibilities’:

2.1  Create garment size chart and Guide to Measure

2.2  Fit garment and make adjustments where necessary and communicate to the supplier

2.3  Able to assess and review fabric, trims and print for approval

2.4  Test report approval

2.5  Risk assessment of new product

2.6  Pre-production meetings

2.7  Review new styles with designers to understand vision and concept.

2.8  Advise designers on pattern design and garment construction.

2.9  Must have good pattern skill and knowledge

2.10  Update technical handbooks, system and progress reports

2.11 ensuring garments meet customers' expectations in terms of performance and fit, whilst conforming to prevailing legislation and regulations

1. Requirements/Experience

3.1  Work well under pressure

3.2  Excellent communication skills, technical training with regard to product manufacturing

3.3  A confident and flexible approach

3.4  English speaking good

3.5  Strong knowledge of fabric, garment construction, technical drawing, measuring and fitting.

3.6  Excellent interpersonal, team working and communication skills

3.7  The ability to work autonomously whilst also participating in divisional projects

3.8  Knowledge of manufacturing

3.9  Good problem solving mind-set

3.10 Open to developing skills across a broad spectrum of product

3.11 Being able to build great relationships is very important to this role. Internal Relationships that are critical will be with the buying team, design team. External relationships that are critical will be with the supply base, packaging suppliers, technical labs, advisory Services
