  Job/Position Summary  

CTS Corporation is an international, innovative designer and manufacturer of sensors, actuators and electronic components supplying the automotive, communications, medical, industrial, defense, and aerospace markets.

  

CTS Automotive is currently seeking a Product Engineer to join the Engineering group working at the Zhongshan facility.  This position will provide technical support for automotive product development, ensure the cost, timing and performance objectives are met for assigned projects.

  Major Areas of Responsibility  

• Create, maintain and improve product designs in 3D and 2D CAD (Mainly solid edge), mostly focus on the injection parts and metal stamping design, provide the product design solution according to the customer input.

• Be responsible for product system architecture and validation test. 

• Support the engineering communication activities with the customer for project development.

  Also lead the components development activities in suppliers’ side.

• Apply a principled approach to product engineering by creating and utilizing functional tools such as DFMEA, DFMA, FTA, design guidelines, Stack-up spreadsheets, GD&T, and other customer specific tools to guide design decisions

• Technical support for the Product Development Process (PDP). Cooperate with cross functional teams to insure PDP development engineering activities are completed per project schedule. 

• Lead the product validation activities. Create and maintain the DVP/PVP.

              Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

• Basic understanding of BLDC motor knowledge (commutation, thermal management and control theory, electrical design)

• Basic understanding of PCB manufacturing process and design for manufacturability

• Basic understanding with embedded system software design (preferably Microchip’s dsPIC family)

• Basic understanding with embedded C coding on 16-bit controller

• Injection molding part design experience is preferred.

• Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks

• Thorough understanding of cause and effect relationships that will provide the skill to identify and solve problems using tools such as FTA, 8-D, 5-why analysis, Stack-up etc.

• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of automotive industry, procedures/system e.g. Statistical analysis, ISO, TS-16949, FMEA, ECO system, PDP, etc.

• Excellent communication skills

                  Education and Experience  

• Bachelor in Mechanical, Electrical and Automation major is preferred

• 5+ years of automotive engineering experience

• System/Mechatronics product experience is plus.

      Physical Demands  

• Ability to work several hours at a computer

• Ability to travel (domestic and international) as needed

    Working Environment  

• Standard office environment

• Extended periods in manufacturing environment.
