JOB SUMMARY

As a Tory Burch Senior Product Developer, you are a critical cross-functional partner, pivotal in building an aesthetically and quality authentic product while achieving financial goals.

 Coordination of the product development process is performed by:

1. Monitor the product quality consistent with different manufacturing partners
2. Monitor the product development calendar with manufacturing partners to ensure on-time delivery
3. Develop products that meet aesthetics, function and quality goals as outlined in the Design package.

RESPONSIBILITIES

DEVELOPMENT

• Communicates daily with manufacturing partners to go through all tech pack details for construction, material, hardware and also special outsourcing techniques, helping them to understand the design request and Tory Burch DNA
• Communicates daily with NYPD for specs questions, providing suggestions for design enhancements, construction and material, hardware options for on-time sample development, and quality control.
• Material arrangement and follow up for all prototypes and also market week samples
• Monitors to send reference sample, artwork and color standard to manufacturing partners from early of market development
• Monitors and reviews mock-up or filler panel, outsourcing technique panel prior to all prototypes and market samples. Provides feedback and educates manufacturing partners to make necessary changes to ensure the proto meets the quality, execution and construction standards.
• Monitors and review all prototypes and market samples in line and also finish product provides optional or improved sample for construction, material and also cost saving

• Daily checking and follow up with manufacturing partners, outsourcing supplier, teams for the sample schedule to ensure everything ready and arrive on time for on-time sample delivery
• Coordinates with cross-functional teams to manage the quality of development to meet our general standard, quality and also functional for production
• Maintains and issues all standard, general guidelines for the designs and production to manufacturing partners.
• Maintains and provides teams and manufacturing partners’ feedback and NYPD suggestions for production improvement aftermarket sample.
• Coordinates with teams to set up the general standard for cutting direction, tolerance setting, construction alignment, thread and zipper color alignment, technique and size alignment
• Tracks on all material, hardware, trims and also outsourcing status to manage the development within the calendar
• Schedules on all mock-up, prototypes and market samples in-line and finish product with manufacturing partners
• Reports all prototypes and market samples status to NYPD and also tracks on the delivery status, working with shipping team if there is any delay or customs issue
• Coordinates with the testing team to manage the testing of development to ensure all products meet our test requirements.  Resolves with manufacturing partners or teams for any failed test items, provides suggestions, options to improve test for production
• Provides supplier quotation (FDS/LDS) to manufacturing partners for costing
• Review the costing with team and manufacturing partners, negotiates the costs with manufacturing partners and supplier, provide cost-saving option to NY team
• Monitors Rush Merch SMS, Whole samples, and PR immediately needs samples with NY PP team and manufacturing partners
• Monitor to send documents on time after sample sending (SER, PICTURES)

SOURCING

• With internal materials departments, provides option, suggestion to material department to improve the material for bulk workable (e.g adding backing, print material base color confirmation, print technique confirmation)
• Working with suppliers for outsourcing special technique (needle point, factory level print, embellishment, quilting, embroidery…) and also set up standard and approval quality for bulk production
• Coordinates with the testing team to manage the testing of development to ensure all techniques meet our test requirements.
• Negotiated the costing with supplier to get reasonable and workable costing

PRODUCT INTEGRITY

• Set up general standard with Tory Burch DNA from early development to production for material selection, material cutting standard, hardware functional, construction and bag quality
• Reviews all components with an eye for quality and durability.
• Reviews all products for customs compliance needs prior to production.
• Review all products for general alignment and also consistent for Tory Burch DNA
• Review all tests to insure meet the test requirement prior to production.
• Monitor the product quality consistent with different manufacturing partners

CALENDAR

• Manages calendar to insure timely turnover of development, return of prototypes, and market samples and placement of final production.

• Monitors calendar daily to promote flow of development.

• Monitor calendar daily with manufacturing partners and cross-functional teams to promote flow of development

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Travel 3-4 times per week or as needed to fulfill the requirements of the role.
• Working closely with manufacturing to resolve delivery and issues affecting development and production
• Working closely with NYPD and design to ensure the design's request and also what we need for each market
• Regular meetings (Internal line review meeting) with cross-functional teams to review all market week samples and provide feedback & suggestion for smooth bulk production
• Regular meeting (Handover meeting) with cross-functional teams and manufacturing partner to review adopted styles prior to bulk production to discuss all issues affecting production
• Regular meeting with the testing team for all test requirements for each market week style and also any testing update
• Regular meeting with the material team to review all new leather and materials to get a clear understanding of the new article and set up the cutting standard to manufacturing partner for bulk
• Works on other relevant projects as required by supervisor.

EDUCATION & PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED

• BA/BS degree or equivalent life experience
• Minimum 8 years in fashion accessories product development, sourcing, and/or production
• Strong organizational,  interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Strong math and collaborative skills
• Able to work in a fluid, fast-paced, multi-channel environment.
• Proficient in excel & adobe suite
