Job Title: Corporate Counsel

Job Hours: Full time

Location: Shanghai, China

Department: Legal

Amount of Travel: Less than 10%, mostly within China.

Synaptics is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join our Legal team in Shanghai, China. This position reports to Synaptics’ Assistant General Counsel – Asia Pacific.

The Corporate Counsel will work with the business leaders, other legal department staff and outside counsel on all contracting, policy, compliance, regulatory and other legal issues necessary to support the operational needs of the company.

Responsibilities

• Review and negotiate a wide range of agreements related to Synaptics’ business and operations, some of which may be in Chinese or in bilingual English/Chinese.

• Identify risks in those agreements and summarize agreement terms in English as needed.

• Handle corporate governance matters for Synaptics’ subsidiaries in China.

• Provide timely legal advice to other functions in Synaptics to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

• Manage legal team inbox and contract management system.

• Provide legal support for customer and supplier engagements.

• Assist with liquidation, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, legal research, labor law issues, and other matters under the purview of the General Counsel or Assistant General Counsel.

Required Qualifications

• Law degree from a recognized institution in China.
• 1-3 years of work experience in a law firm or a multinational in-house legal team.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Ability and desire to do hands-on legal work and proactively to identify and mitigate legal risks.

• Responsible, organized, and meticulous.

• Excellent attention to detail and an ability to recognize and handle confidential information in a mature, professional, and completely confidential manner.

• Possess good communication skills and be a team player.

• Desire to learn and the ability to understand of business goals and commercial realities in a practical way.

Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively.

• Work as a member of a cross-functional and cross-cultural team in a corporate environment
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively balance multiple ongoing projects and tasks with competing priorities.
• Demonstrated capability for project management, including detailed project monitoring and customer follow-through.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated and directed.

Desired Qualifications

• Active Bar admission in China or a U.S. state.

• Experience working in a foreign technology company.

• Experience with corporate governance and employment matters.

• Japanese or Korean language is a plus
