Sourcing Specialist (Pet Products / Toy / Textile)

    

Pets at Home is the largest pet care retailer in Europe, with more than 400 stores and over 7,000 employees, and ambitiously growing the UK market.  Pets at Home’s sourcing operations are a key driver in sourcing high quality and valued products from world class suppliers for our stores.  

    

The role will be based in Shanghai with frequent travel throughout PRC. Reporting to Merchandise Manager, responsible in sourcing, product development and delivering innovative products and ranges from world class vendors, which will drive sales, profit and cash advantages for the business.    

    

Key Responsibilities:

    

• Support category plans through effective sourcing and product development,
• Develop and engineer products to optimise value added,
• Negotiate price based on an in-depth understanding of product and components,
• Collect up-to-date industry trends and supplier research to support strategies formulation,

• Assess prospective vendors and factories capacity and capability to meet business requirements,

        

• Provide input for supplier assessment,
• Attending trade fairs and visiting vendor showrooms,

• Manage any ad hoc projects as directed by team supervisor,

        

Requirements:

    

• Degree holder or above,

• Previous experience of working in a global sourcing/buying office is preferable
• Min. 5 years solid experience in developing and/or sourcing pet products / textile / clothing / toys,
• Knowledge in Pet Product are preferred,
• Good command of both spoken and written English, Cantonese & Mandarin
• Frequent travel within PRC
• Good negotiation and presentation skills
• Proactive, positive, energetic, and attention to details
• Responsible and  able to work independently and with teams
