Position Title: Regional HR Manager (APAC) 


Section I - Position Summary/Purpose


LMI Technologies is looking for a results driven, experienced Regional HR Manager to provide HR business partner support and local HR leadership with the managers in the APAC region (China, Korea, Japan and new regions) and work with the global HR team to drive initiatives locally. The successful candidate will be involved in recruitment, performance reviews, compensation review, employee relations,manager coaching and promoting corporate culture development. The Regional HR Manager will thrive in a fast paced technology environment that promotes teamwork and shared success as well as using their creativity and problem solving skills as we expand in different regions. You will be located in our Suzhou office and will work closely with managers across multiple departments and locations, such as Sales, Finance, IT, Marketing and Field Application Engineering.



Section II – Reporting Relationship

Working as part of our global HR team, you will report to the HR Manager at our Burnaby head office. 



Section III - Typical Duties, Activities, Responsibilities


●      Acts as the local regional HR expert with overall responsibility for the HR operations in the APAC region and point in contact for all regional employee related inquiries.

●      Responsible for the day-to-day HR support for the APAC region including training, employee development, engagement, recruitment, and other HR related initiatives.

●      Drives Human Resources programs, policies, processes and tools to ensure consistent execution across all our APAC regions.

●      Develops and drives various localized HR processes and procedures.

●      Partners with managers and team leads to influence and drive employee programs while providing advice on people policies, employment standards and legislation such as workers compensation and labour standards.

●      Partners with local experts and resources to proactively find solutions as the Company potentially expands in different APAC regions.

●      Responsible for reviewing relevant data to guide decisions around workforce and succession planning, organizational structure, compensation, promotion, etc.

●      Creates career development path for the APAC region and monitors the program for employees

●      Uses local regional knowledge and expertise to provide sound and proactive HR-related recommendations to the HR global team and senior leaders.

●      Partner with the HR global team to drive HR system improvement initiatives through our ATS and HRIS 

●      Develops and administers various human resource plans for APAC region including our benefits program, incentive/perks programs, overtime, etc.

●      Conduct full cycle recruitment duties including sourcing, resume screening, phone screening, interviewing, reference checking and providing guidance during the hiring decision process that leads to an offer.

●      Oversight of new employee orientations and onboarding for the various APAC offices

●      Drives annual performance review cycle with the APAC group and works with managers to ensure proper processes and goals are set.

●      Keeps up-to-date with regional people policies, employment standards and legislation updates such as vacation, overtime, social and housing insurances.

●      Ensures HR policies are followed to maintain compliance in all APAC regions

●      Provides coaching and counseling to managers and staff on performance-related discussions.

●      Provides support to managers for employee relations and performance issues

●      Conducts exit interviews as well as identifies and addresses trends for departures

●      Facilitates employee engagement initiatives such as employee surveys and questionnaires to promote an excellent working culture.   Using survey results, identifies issues to prioritize and creates a plan with the regional leadership to address.

●      Manages employment related procedures such as employment verification letter, contract renewals and permit applications.

●      Updates the LMI Employee Handbook in China and other regions with new and revised policies and procedures and communicates changes to group members.

●      Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.


Section IV – Education and Qualifications

●      Degree in Business/HR Management or equivalent experience.

●      7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources Business Partner and leadership roles with a background in a growing and fast paced, high tech environment.

●      Solid background with designing and driving HR programs including compensation and benefits

●      Experience with full cycle recruitment is an asset.

●      Previous experience with HR systems (i.e. ATS, HRIS, leave management, etc.). Previous experience with BambooHR is an asset.

●      Proficient knowledge in staff fulfillment, performance review methods, staff interactions, mentoring and coaching, relevant labour law legislation.

●      Knowledgeable in China employment legislation. Knowledge of Japan, Korea or other regions in South East Asia is an asset.

●      Strong leadership, strategic thinking, organizational, interpersonal, and influencing skills.

●      Ability to manage and drive several projects and initiatives simultaneously.

●      Must be strong in areas of detailed orientation, creativity and problem solving

●      Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in Chinese and English including ability to present, prepare reports, proposals, and deliver difficult messages clearly and with sensitivity.

●      Excellent computer skills including ability to operate software applications such as MS Office and Google Docs.
