BASIC FUNCTION:

Responsible for Supplier Development, Management, and Sourcing activities for Asia-based suppliers of furniture raw materials and components – in support of global commodity and supplier strategies led by Corporate Procurement (in the US)

JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT:

• Collaborate with Corporate Procurement team to identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers in support of global commodity strategies
• Work with Commodity Managers to develop and drive Supplier Continuous Improvement Plans (SCIP)
• Work with suppliers to conduct lean assessments, provide lean training, and support suppliers’ lean implementation programs
• Manage supplier changes and PPAP’s, and support La-Z-Boy Product Development System (LPDS) as required for new product introductions

2) SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT:

• Develops and maintain relationships with suppliers using sourcing best practices
• Responsible for maintaining supplier information databases and supplier performance metrics / supplier scorecard system to support strategic supplier management
• Collaborate with GTC Quality teams to conduct periodic audits of suppliers to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements, including the La-Z-Boy Supplier Requirements Manual, Supplier Code of Conduct, and Supplier Corrective Action Request system. Conduct onsite training and follow-up as necessary
• Act as project manager for assigned projects/suppliers

3) SOURCING:

• Work with suppliers to develop plans to secure production capacity and raw materials and to drive production process efficiencies
• Oversees purchase order tracking and management processes; proactively addresses delivery issues
• Assist GTC and US logistics teams in managing load consolidation and shipment
• Identifies sourcing opportunities within the supply base

4) OTHER

• Develops and manages a strong team
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of ten (10) years of international sourcing / supplier management experience in Asia
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations or related field
• Experience managing projects utilizing formal project management methodologies
• Subject matter expertise with furniture-related components; e.g., electronics, show wood, wood components, fabricated metal parts, fabricated plastic parts, cover etc.
• Knowledge of best in class sourcing / purchasing / manufacturing principles, including:

• Supplier Assessments
• Supplier Scorecards
• Strategic Business Reviews
• Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
• Working knowledge of AQL
• Understanding of the following Lean manufacturing concepts and techniques:
• Kaizen events
• Plan For Every Part (PFEP), Cellular mfg., and 5S
• Value Stream Maps (VSM) and methodologies
• Six Sigma Green / Black Belt training (certification preferred)
• Continuous improvement mentality, strong problem-solving skills, and an ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
• Ability to collaborate across functions, business units, and geographies
• Strong communications skills (written & verbal); fluent in English and Mandarin (Cantonese a plus)
• Experience with ERP systems and proficient in MS Office suite of products
• Proficient in the use of Minitab (preferred)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1-3 direct reports

TRAVEL REQUIRED: 50%+
