Job description
The Business Analytics team is working to deliver new Business Analytics solutions that provide unparalleled value to our clients by leveraging our assets and expertise to drive organic growth for IBM. To harness this opportunity the Analytics Solutions team is established as part of Business Analytics Growth Initiatives. This team will be focused on driving future organic growth through developing solutions focused on driving business outcomes for our clients, providing best practices and content accelerators through GBS, Lab Services and other delivery vehicles.
The post is for a Software Development Manager with a solid background in managing software development team and projects. The candidate should have a demonstrable understanding of software development, design and optimization techniques/principles with a variety of practical experience.
An analytical mind, creative thinking and an ability to support other members of the team are essential attributes in the successful candidate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage Analytic Solutions Development team within China Development Labs.
- Set clear performance expectation, lead by example, develop talent, lead the team to build deeper technical skills, key technical competencies.
- Grow the team to be Solutions experts in the associated Analytics Solutions offering.
- Build collaborative and innovative climate, lead the team to contribute to IBM technical community.
- Responsible for quality of product deliverables and budget, develop and execute development plans, designs, review & report project progress regularly; collaborate with release and project management teams; manage and identify risks and issues in advance; resolve problems in a timely manner; drive to ensure successful product delivery.
- Track project process across teams; continually improve the overall process to make development work more effectively and efficiently.
- Work within a global team; work with other Business Analytics Product teams and other functions by supporting Services, Sales enablement and Customer Support.
MANDATORY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Rich project management experience or leading experience.
- Familiar with software development process, and experience on IBM product development and release cycles is a plus
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and practices such as SCRUM and Test Driven Development are highly desirable.
- Strong, demonstrated leadership skills, managing software engineers, including coaching, motivating, growing and retaining the team, and measuring individual job performance.
- Strong decision making, analytical, problem solving, and conflict resolution, change management and risk taking skills.
- Confident to make decisions and influence all levels of management. Represent the team's needs to upper management.
- Experience in budgeting, recruiting and staffing software development teams.
- Excellent communication skills
Qualifications (Education/Major/Certificates)
- Master degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- More than 3 years of software engineering experience
- More than 2 years of experience as manager, project manager or team leader in development project
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Familiar with IBM Business Analytic products
- Java, JavaScript and/or an equivalent scripting language.
- Good knowledge of SQL and SOA
