Vaupell China Dongguan (a part of Sumitomo Bakelite Ltd. Japan) is a global contract manufacturer of custom injection molded components and assemblies focused on the aerospace marketplace and is a supplier of aircraft interior parts to Boeing, Airbus, COMAC and all other leading aerospace tier I companies across the world. It provides advanced, integrated solutions to select customers in these niche markets and can assist in all phases of a company's product life cycle.

 

The facility in Dongguan (legal name - Wei Pai Su Jiao Mo Ju (Dongguan) You Xian Gong Si) is an AS9100 certified aerospace facility. 95% of its business comes from outside of China. It grew by 50% in terms of revenue in 2018 and projects a further 100% growth in the next three years.

In order to strengthen its engineering team, it is now looking for an Engineering Manager who will be based at the factory at Qiao Tou, Dongguan.

Job Description

1.To lead all tool design and engineering department initiatives.

2. To answer RFQs and make/review quotes for tools.

3. To work closely with customers, review their suggestions and if needed, suggest alternate solutions in the DFM.

4. To review all tool/fixture designs and take action to optimize material requirement/process cost.

5. To lead and train the team to upgrade their skills on a continual basis.

6. To handle all ECNs in a timely and effective manner.

7. To ensure release of a tool manufacture schedule and manage tool build in the company's tool room. If needed, manage subcontracting of tools.

8. To ensure that correct BOMs are entered in a timely manner into the ERP system and are reviewed periodically.

9. To ensure that accurate and dependable time-standards are established for all production activities and are reviewed periodically.

10.To closely manage all NPI projects from concept to manufacturing stage.

Reporting

This position reports to the General Manager. This position will take reports from 4 tool designers, 6 project engineers, 1 tool room supervisor and 2 industrial engineers.

"Must have" skills and experience

1. University degree in mechanical engineering/mold design.

2. 5-7 years of experience in a similar role in molding/tooling industry. 

3. Expertise in working with commonly used 2D and 3D tool design software.

4. Strong exposure to and understanding of plastic molding process. 

5. Understanding of QMS as per ISO 9001/AS 9100 and experience of working in an ERP environment. 

6. Ability to handle communications with customers on technical issues independently face-to-face and on telephone.

7 . 2-3 years of hands on tool room management experience.

8. Ability to speak, read and write English and Mandarin fluently. 如果英文不好，请不要递交简历。

9.Pleasant personality and highly honed team leadership skills.

10 . Strong awareness of Kaizen and experience of working in Kaizen environment.
