Job Summary

· Provides technical expertise and some leadership in the optimization and troubleshooting of existing processes. Leads engineering activities towards the development and qualification of new processes. Supports the technical transfer of new products from research and development to mass production. Working in a team environment identifies, evaluates, and works to resolve issues in the daily processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Process Improvement (50%)

• Evaluate existing supplier processes and facilities to develop improvement plans to increase quality and efficiency.
• Document and publish Process Control Plans detailed to PVD and Plating subcontractor manufacturing methods.
• Develop testing capabilities for PVD and Plating evaluation for quality control and new product development.
• Establish Quality Assurance plans including testing and process auditing.
• Create subcontractor evaluation and qualification plans for new suppliers or new manufacturing lines at existing suppliers.
• Research and Develop capabilities to improve PVD and Plating durability and provide new cosmetic options.
• Perform studies to stabilize, characterize, and optimize key process parameters.
• Assist in the maintenance and support of all Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Quality Control (SQC) tools.

· Day-to-day support (30%)

• Perform process audits regularly.
• Support suppliers in efforts to troubleshoot the manufacturing processes on a daily basis.
• Develop, maintain, and update manufacturing documentation with input from appropriate functions.
• Assist suppliers in the training of operators, technicians, and supervisors as needed.
• Work with Carlsbad Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) personnel as needed to ensure that equipment and processes comply with applicable codes and regulations.
• Support local testing on an as-needed basis.

· New Products (20%)

• Work with based resources to ensure process specifications, procedures, and controls related to new products are well documented and communicated before launch.
• Provide input to resources regarding processing options during the development of new products – Design for Manufacturability (DFM.)
• Work to improve volume process capabilities in anticipation of new product requirements.

Frequency Task List

· Daily

o Check e-mail and other messaging systems and reply as necessary

o Check voicemail and reply as necessary

o Interface with CGC personnel

o Provide support to manufacturing cells as needed

o Review documentation for testing, changes, instructions, etc. and provide recommendations

· Weekly

o Update project timelines and summarize projects

o Meet with manager to discuss results and path forward

o Interface with suppliers and/or sub-contractors

o Visit factories to review production and audit processes

o Research new materials, methods, and testing

o Evaluate new equipment and/or processes

· Monthly

o Visit existing and/or potential suppliers/sub-contractors

o Support production as needed

Authority to Act

· Adhere to Callaway Golf policies.

· Individual acts under own discretion on a day-to-day basis. Generally work is reviewed for accuracy, technical judgment, and adequacy by direct supervisor in order to ensure adherence to departmental and company objectives. Requests or tasks that fall outside of normal procedures should be handled on a case-by-case basis and reviewed with supervisor if necessary. Individual has some latitude to prioritize tasks and duties.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· General knowledge of development and manufacturing processes required.

· Knowledge and experience with applicable materials (Titanium, steel, thermoplastics, composites, etc.) preferred.

· Knowledge and experience with applicable processes (casting, forming, injection molding, compression molding, etc.) preferred.

· Proficient with MS Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel

· Good knowledge of statistical tools.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks

· Able to read and interpret instructions, procedures, etc.

· Team player with good communication skills.

· Fluent in both Mandarin and English (both written and spoken.)

· Knowledge of Taiwanese and/or Cantonese ideal.

· Flexible and able to adapt to changing environments and priorities and function without rigid organizational boundaries.

· Must show evidence of increasing responsibility with years of experience.

· Must be able to demonstrate a successful track record.

· Highly energetic, creative, intelligent, and logical.

· Able to work extended hours in critical situations.

Education and/or Experience

· BS in Chemical or Manufacturing Engineering or relevant experience.

· Process engineering experience at a PVD or chrome plating company.

· Project management experiences beneficial.

· Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
