The Role

？ Tesla is currently seeking a motivated and accomplished Tool install management Engineer who will work primarily in the field managing trades and subcontractors and will be asked to work cross-functionally, interfacing with base build, construction engineering, and manufacturing engineering while tracking a project's schedule at Gigafactory Shanghai, which located in Shanghai Lin’gang district.

？ The ideal candidate will excel in a demanding and fast-paced environment where they will work as part of a strong, agile and highly motivated team to accomplish some of the most ambitious projects being attempted in any industry today. He/She takes pride in his/her thoroughness, analytical ability, organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

？ Display a positive attitude and practice strong work ethics that reflects the mission, philosophy and goals of Tesla.

？ Estimate cost and man hours based on tool count with general description and technical data

Develop and communicate logistics and other operational plans necessary Interface with base build, construction engineering, and manufacturing engineering teams – from install through start of production.

？Understand construction and startup systems and sequences and review designs for constructability. Troubleshoot walk down, and resolve control system issues that arise from the field. Quickly respond to queries and resolve any technical barriers to completion.

？ Direct work in field, track changes, etc. both individually and leading or participating in a larger team. Work with tool vendors as needed to facilitate successful project completion Develop templates and standards for future phases/projects Work with procurement team to create biddable work packages; track against estimate to manage costs and update appropriate teams.

？ Coordinate rigger (vendor) – moving out of truck and rough set in position, power-on and commissioning.

？ Coordinate installation work between MFG, B&U and tool installer.  

？ Track and report Tool Install status, engineering change management & summarize lessons learned.

？ Clarify scope of work for utility connection & tool installation and support vendor selection ？ Closely collaborate with process design team and external equipment integrators on building and utilities requirements, custom material flow automation equipment design.

？ Design and optimize factory layouts for production, material flow, construction, and facilities.

？ Work with manufacturing engineering teams to ensure that equipment and layout designs align with the overall process line and vision for the factory.

？ Lead the design and development for the efficient layout of production facilities to support the manufacturing of battery cells/modules/pack.

？ Develop and reviewed concept drawings, specifications and proposals for module/pack assembly line.

？ Lead cross-functional team to develop engineering solution to support green/brownfield program.

Requirements

？ At least 5 years-experience in coordinating installation of tools (production machinery & equipment) into large factories, preferably in high-tech or other market sector where fast-track projects are the norm.

？ Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals.

？ Bachelor degree or equivalent in piping engineering or electrical engineering.

？ Experience with coordinating onsite tool installation.

？ Strong communication and management skill with multiple vendors.

？ Experience with manufacturing launch process and tool install planning.

？ Experience with bidding documentation development, technical evaluation, FAT & SAT.

？ Demonstrated leadership and ability to drive projects with diverse teams in a high volume manufacturing environment.

？ Experience quantitatively solving ambiguous problems at a systems level.

？ Extensive detailed analysis experience to make data-driven decisions and summarize results for executives.

？ Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.

？ Extensive experience with Excel (VBA a plus).

？ Experience with layouts in AutoCAD (Catia, Solidworks, Sketchup are a plus).

？ Experience designing greenfield facility layouts (car plant a plus).
