Key responsibilities

This laboratory technician will play a role in supporting the rapid growth of the Packaging and Specialty Plastics business of the Dow Chemical Company in Asia Pacific.

• Work as a laboratory technician, supporting the Packaging and Specialty Plastics TS&D team in Asia.

• Main responsibilities include: laboratory equipment operation, test sample submission and tracking, as well as data/report communication.

• Provide lab trainings to sales and marketing colleagues.

Internal communication with technical and commercial team members. Occasional field trip to customers.

Experience qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, material sciences or Polymer Science disciplines.

• Minimum 2 years of work experience, preferably with international companies.

• Basic understandings in the general area of polymer science and engineering, e.g. polymer chemistry, polymer physics, polymer processing and rheology, polymer characterization etc.

This role requires proficient Mandarin language. Good English reading, writing and speaking capability is a plus.

Soft skills qualifications

• Self motivated. Sense of ownership. Can-do attitude.

• Can drive a project from beginning to the end under proposed time frame. Can set timeline and prioritize multiple projects.

• Good interpersonal skills. Can work comfortably in a team setting. Able to motivate and positively influence team members.

• Good writing and presentation skills. Good English reading, writing and speaking capability is a plus.
