Day to Day Responsibilities:
* Develop and apply numerical models to solve process problems
* Collaborate with other scientists and engineers to solve practical problems in process and product design
* Advance our capabilities in process design and control by modeling & experimentation.
* Work closely with scientists, engineers, and technicians to develop and execute multi-disciplinary experiment plans
* Communicate modeling results/conclusions to drive fundamental understanding and project decisions
* Document results from technical activities and interactions with customers and contractors with reports and/or oral presentations
* Support R&D roadmaps and project portfolios development for new products and processes.
* Cooperate with other Corning research groups and business organizations across the globe

Education & Experience:
*
PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electronic Engineering and Material science or related area
*
3+ years of research or development experience, preferably in surface process modeling
*
More than 2 years as a technical leader and/or a core researcher of projects Required Skills
*
Academic study or research experience with in-depth knowledge in surface etching and coating process
*
Expertise in coating and etching processes
*
Ability to breakdown real world problems into solvable modeling objectives
*
Strong ability to perform product and process R&D in the lab environment
ability to utilize material characterization and modeling technique and tools
*
Ability to learn new technologies and apply scientific method for technical problem solving
*
Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience collaborating with others
