1) Job Summary:
To help develop new types of motor designs for new projects; control and improvement for existing motor designs at
specified suppliers. The objective is to obtain best quality, cost and lead-time possible, maintain these for the long term.
Have a good working liaison with new and established suppliers.
Understand how these requirements work in the total product design.

2) Principle Responsibilities/Duties:
? Find new motor designs to suit new products as required.
? Obtain '3D' models, and '2D' drawings/specifications from suppliers.
? Able to use Share point effectively.
? Determine suitable component and product manufacturing processes.
? Understand and help suppliers identify critical dimensions and processes.
? Plan and control product testing.
? Follow project schedules, testing, and understand the results to implement improvements.
? Understand the cost of the motor.
? Discuss projects with overseas visitors/customers as required.
? Audit identified suppliers with standard audit document. Help resolve any outstanding issues and follow up the progress
made.
? Visit suppliers sub suppliers and understand their working procedures, control and abilities to manufacture correct
components to the drawing/specification.
? Understand compliance issues.

4) Qualification Requirements of the Incumbent
a) Academic: Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
b) Job Experience:
Minimum 3 years product design & project control, and working/understanding the motor application in the final
assembled product.
c) Technical Knowledge:
Good working knowledge of electrical motors.
Understand motor specific specification for motor components and processes.
Good practical knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
Good material selection for both metal and plastics polymers.
Good technical analysis and problem solving skills.
Good experience in design of experiments.
Good understanding of Quality Control tools and procedures. FMEA's, SPC, etc
A good understanding of manufacturing processes.
Manufacturing engineering, a good working knowledge of gauging, tooling and how a manufacturing line works.
d) Computer Skill:
Proficient in reading & understanding CAD for design and drafting.
Ability to develop spreadsheets for presentation and analysis of data.
Word-processing skills
