Job Summary:
Job purpose:
Apply operations research techniques to solve challenging business, supply chain, and logistics problems. The project portfolio will impact all aspects of Praxair's business, including on-site, liquid and packaged gases. Project opportunities will include but are not limited to business analytics, revenue management, supply chain optimization, planning and scheduling.
Work scope:
The candidate will be involved in technology development programs and be expected to work closely with the local operations and business organization, as well as the corporate R&D and global operation teams in the US. The person will need to develop credible business cases for new technology programs, actively participate in the technical development, and lead multi-disciplinary project execution teams.
Reporting relationships:
The person will directly report to China R& D director
Key Responsibilities:
? Work closely with the global and local operation teams to continuously improve the efficiency of production process and product supply chain.
? Solve challenging business and supply chain problems by applying analytics and operations research techniques
? Work closely with internal business customers to develop value propositions and business cases for technology programs.
? Develop innovative technical solutions that best meet business needs.
? Domestic and international travel up to 25% of the time.
Key Capabilities
Education: ? PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Operations Research or a related field
Skills & Personal Attributes: ? 0-3 years R&D or engineering experiences in advanced statistics, data mining, and/or optimization; Priority will be given to candidates with industrial experience in using optimization and analytics to improve business decisions;
? Self-directed individual with good interpersonal and communication skills;
? A related background in forecasting, supply chain analysis and logistics is a plus;
? Able to speak, read, and write in English.
