We are currently seeking a Project Director to manage our project team in Shanghai Office.




Summary of Position



This position requires a self-motivated, responsible and organised candidate to manage the delivery of multiple interior fit-out projects running concurrently. The Project Director must excel in all areas of project management, Client management and have a broad range of sector diversity within their fitting out project experience in China, e.g. retail, corporate, hospitality.



The Project Director will ensure the planning, management, coordination and financial control of each project, working under the supervision of the Country Director and with a range of other professionals/trades during the Project lifecycle.



There is also a requirement for a detailed understanding of Construction Authority Submissions including Fire Services Bureau, Construction Bureau, Quality & Safety Bureau, Planning Bureau etc. including on site Health and Safety best practice and regulations.



You must demonstrate an excellent project delivery background and be used to working in high pressure environments to secure successful job completion.

Typical Duties


Manage a team, and act as single point of contact for multiple projects, reporting to senior Client representatives, and inProjects Director.
Prepare and supervise other Project staff to prepare master schedules and timelines, including key event schedules, procurement and design programmes.
Manage and supervise the team to ensure clear coordination of client/site/project meetings, and issuance of agendas, meeting minutes etc.
Manage and supervise the team to ensure there is a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities, communication protocols and team objectives.
Managing, checking and liaising with the design team, client and other trades to ensure the correct works have been included.
Allocate duties and responsibilities to the internal team and supervise as needed.
Ensure programmes and countdown schedules are fully coordinated with the Client and project team then communicated to all parties.
Managing and supervising the production of tender and request for proposal (RFP) documentation for various trades and services including analysis of returns.
Visit site throughout the project in order to monitor progress of the project and take action where necessary to correct non compliance.
Checking and reporting that quality standards, authority submissions and all health & safety requirements are being adhered to.
Monitoring the value and cost data of the project to ensure the budgets are met, including the preparation and issuance of budgets and cost reports.
Managemen and supervision of the change control process.
Supervise and where necessary, preparation and issuance of Client Progress Reports and Recommendations.
Ensure defects and inspection reports are undertaken and all defects get completed.
Expedite closure of final accounts, closeout reports, O&M manuals, as-built drawings etc.

Required Skills/Qualifications


An industry qualification in one of the following: Interior Design, Quantity Surveying, Building, Civil Engineering, Architecture or MEP.
Specific experience of working on interior fit out / decoration projects preferably retail, commercial or hospitality projects.
At least 15 years prior experience in a Project Management or Consulting role.
At least 6 to 7 years experience in leading the team with a minimum of 10 people.
Excellent interpersonal skills, written and spoken English and Mandarin
Highly motivated, energetic and hard working.
