PURPOSE:

1. This job description covers the skills and responsibilities for the R&D Test Engineer position.

2. R&D Test Engineers provide testing support to R&D engineers engaged in all phases of new product development from concept selection through field support.

3. R&D Test Engineers assist in planning, setting up test equipment and fixturing, conducting studies and experiments and summarizing the resulting data in report form.

EDUCATION / DEGREE REQUIRED: Bachelor or higher degree in engineering discipline

KEY SKILL / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

1. TECHNICAL

   1. FUNDAMENTALS

      1. Basic knowledge of workshop mechanical staffs such as fastener, fixtures, pneumatic units, linear motion guides, etc.

      2. Ability to operate sophisticated lab equipment. MTS/Instron Universal Test System is preferred. SmartScope Vision Measuring System is a plus.

      3. Ability to develop and document new test procedures under guidance by R&D Engineers.

      4. Capacity to learn new equipment skills and apply these to the test needs of the requestor.

      5. Basic electronic knowledge is preferred.

      6. Knowledge of measurement system assessment and maintenance, to make sure the compliance with Quality system, under guidance by Quality Engineer.

   2. COMMUNICATION

      1. Basic English technical writing and oral English communication skills.

   3. SELF SUFFICIENCY

      1. Able to work independently in performing assigned tasks.

      2. Able to organize and document tasks to achieve assignment objectives.

   4. COMPUTER SKILLS:

      1. Effectively manipulate text and data files within Windows OS.

      2. Basic software development tools such as Lab View, Lab Windows, Visual C, Visual Basic, Test Suite will be a plus.

2. EXPERIENCE: At least 2 years in a lab / testing environment

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. R&D TEST TECHNICIAN:

   1. Plan, execute or assist in tests and experiments to evaluate performance of devices.

   2. Assure that equipment is maintained and calibrated.

   3. Complete assigned testing followed by the test methods and deliver proper reports.

   4. Assist engineer in test development, process validation and documentation.

   5. Perform departmental administrative duties as required, for equipment, safety, tools sign-in and sign out, etc.

   6. Provide training sessions for the use of state-of-the-art, new, novel, software and equipment.

   7. Other responsibilities may be assigned and not all responsibilities listed may be assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office and laboratory environment. Location: Shanghai.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lab facilities/equipment maintenance, EHS cooperation.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Domestic and international travel, as required.
