R&D Lab Technician

The Medtronic Shanghai Innovation Center (MSIC) is a corporate R&D organization located in China focused on regional product development and local sourcing of technology and talent. MSIC works closely with the emerging markets geography and Business Unit teams to collect and prioritize market insights and develop solutions to meet the high priority Emerging Market needs.



Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

？ Operates, adjusts, and maintains laboratory instruments, including mechanical, electrical and material testing equipment

？ Schedules and oversees the maintenance or calibration of laboratory instruments, apparatus, or testing devices.

？ Performs lab experiments to support R&D projects in accordance to the guidelines of supervisor and documents all experiments and test results.

？ Keeps lab area, machines and storage areas in good condition to support an efficient work environment.

？ Contributes to develop tests, procedures, and apparatus required to achieve experimental results. Documents all equipment related activities.

？ Manages laboratory inventory for mechanical parts and chemical inventory.

？ Works closely with outside vendors/suppliers to ensure timely and accurate component delivery.

Requirements

？ Ability to repair and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and pneumatics problems.

？ Ability to handle samples and laboratory equipment.

？ Knowledge of laboratory tests and analyses.

？ Knowledge of laboratory terminology.

？ Ability to keep records.

？ Ability to determine work priorities.

？ Ability to solve routine problems with little or no supervision.

？ Ability to occasionally lift weights up to 50 lbs. and perform other necessary physical requirements in performance of regular job duties.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

？ Required: College diploma with a minimum 5 years’ experience in a mechanical or technical field or equivalent experience.

？ Preferred: Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years’ industrial experience.

Experience:

？ Proficient with hand tools used in mechanical type work

？ Proficient with basic lab skills with the ability to safely work with chemicals

？ Strong skills with computer software including Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

？ Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent.

？ Ability to communicate effectively with internal personnel, verbally and written.
