Responsibilities:
Purpose of the job: Manages and ensures the purchasing function for a major group of solvents across Business Areas/Units and Functions within the policies and guidelines established by Spend Area Manager and within requirements of Business Unit and Functions to ensure an uninterrupted and timely supply at optimum cost within specs.
Job Duties:
1. Strategy, Year plan and Budget Spend Area - Analyze current sourcing strategies and propose improvements
2. Sub Spend Area/ Category Strategy and Budget - Formulate Sub Spend Area/ Category Strategy and Budget
3. Alternatives for Procurement/ Market Know How - Ensure collection and analyzing of key cost drivers, market dynamics and issues, areas for innovation, alternative suppliers
4. Advising BU/Functional Management - Provide monthly price updates and deliberate with BU management on strategies, priorities and issues and advice budget holders and experts in choosing suppliers and products
5. Optimization - Initiate and lead implementation of synergy, cost savings and risk reduction programs
6. Supplier Selection - Ensure feedback on performance of current suppliers and identify alternatives
7. Contracts - Analyze all price changes from suppliers, and negotiate for best result. Manage supply agreements and contracts, inform relevant parties and implement procedures
8. Vendors and Suppliers Relationship - Maintains relationships with (alternative) vendors and contractors and ensure performance
9. Information Management - Optimize and provide information recurrently/on ongoing bases on purchased goods and provide input on indexes and forecasts
Requirements:
1.Qualifications of education Master's degree preferred or comparable work and thinking level, either technical or commercials
2.General skills -Good communication and interpersonal skills, influencing, entrepreneurship, result orientation, negotiation, problem solving, project management, team working/building; -Capability of selling ideas, concepts and programs to suppliers and up and down the relevant AN organizations, ability to work under minimal supervision with broad direction; -Ability to perform, understand and communicate detailed information analysis and evaluation; -Very good English language skills
3.Functional Skills -Best practice in functional area, business awareness, chemical industry market, commercial knowledge and strategic awareness, knowledge of supply base, supply chain value creation -Purchasing excellence, strategic sourcing -Expertise and knowledge of markets and dynamics -Preferred experience in the coatings-, inks- or related chemical industries -Experience with e-Commerce purchasing tools. Familiar with SAP system -Ability to assess underlying financial results of a specific course of action
4.Behavioural -Compliance with laws, regulatory, AkzoNobel Code of Conduct -Safety and social responsibility -Continuous improvement
