About Our Client
Our client is private US Company, focusing innovative solutions in entertainment and event industry. The company has over 20 years of experience in delivering the creative solutions and is operating across 16 countries with multi-million dollar business in North and South America, Europe and Asia.
The company is specialising in various staging technology and automation solutions, and is currently generating over 50Mil RMB revenue in China. Our client is to further develop the booming China market and hire a General Manager to drive the business in Shanghai. The job will require solid hands-on experience in commercial team management, ability to develop the Key Deliverables for the team, drive the revenue / margin growth and entrepreneurial talent to develop and steer strategy for long-term brand growth within China.
Job Description
As the General Manager you would be expected to make continuous efforts driving the sales team and attracting new clients while supporting the Company's goals and values and aiming to double the revenue according to the Group's expectation.
More specific responsibilities of the General Manager will include:
- Take the Company to a market leading position within the China.
- Work with the Executive Team to help implement a number of changes to the business, and most importantly - helping define the direction of the China business.
- Lead a Sales function and implement front end sales processes, winning the 'hearts and minds' of the Sales function.
- Set the targets (revenue and margin) and drive the changes across people in the sales function and develop the Commercial and Corporate mindset.
- Lead the Sales function on business development, make it more corporate creating more of a 'hunter' approach, as opposed to 'farmer'.
- Setting up Sales strategy, with good market focus with grounding in actual development to putting plans in action.
- The ability to develop vertical markets within the Chinese domestic markets and coach the responsible team leaders.
- Work on the relationship between operations and commercial side of the business, control over HR and Finance function, ability to read and understand the P&L.
The Successful Applicant
Successful candidate profile should include:
- 10-15 years' experience in a Sales environment.
- Proven track record in implementing Front End Sales Processes.
- Proven success in managing and growing teams, especially during periods of change.
- Pro-active approach, taking responsibility for individual markets, proven leadership ability.
- Ability to build and manage business relationships with clients. Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Solid education background as well as fluency in both Mandarin and English is required.
- Proven track record in creating different channels to market.
- Experience of managing challenging teams, including managers and team members, gaining respect from sales team, leading by example. Ability to manage challenging people.
- Commercially astute, very hands-on with clients and Sales function, with the ability to 'network'.
- The ability to roll-up your sleeves, not being afraid to get your hands dirty, run the day to day of the Sales function, with the ability to be very strategic as well.
