Introduction:

We are looking for a hands-on supplier quality engineer to lead supply chain management located in Asia. This position is responsible for assessing supplier capabilities, effective communication, supplier management and ensuring compliance to company requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Effectively communicate and hold suppliers accountable to requirements and expectations
• Grow positive relationships with suppliers with open communication
• Objectively assess capabilities of potential suppliers (manufacturing, quality, logistics, etc)
• Working with USA team align part/product requirements with best match supplier capabilities
• Work closely with suppliers through quoting/contract reviews and negotiation process
• Working closely with suppliers coordinate delivery of products from first article/PPAP samples through production delivery
• Implement and utilize supplier performance metrics (on time delivery, PPM, etc)
• Implement and conduct supplier on-site part inspection process
• Function as liaison between suppliers (TW), engineering (USA) and production purchasing (USA)
• Verbally translate English engineering documents (drawings, presentations, specs)
• Facilitate/translation of engineering technical reviews via live web conferences

Required Qualifications:

• B.S. Engineering, preferably B.S. Mechanical Engineering
• Strong oral and written skills (technical and informal) in both Mandarin and English languages
• A minimum of 5 years supplier management experience in automotive/aerospace/hardware
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience with dimensional inspection measurement systems (i.e. micrometers, thread/plug gages, profilometer, etc.)
• Experience working with or through 3rd party manufacturing representative organizations
• Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing process including but not limited to CNC, die cast, injection molding, steel/aluminum forging, steel fabrication and general assembly processes.
• General understanding of subcontracted special processes (plating, anodizing, heat treating)
• Ability to read/understand engineering drawings, specifications, bill of materials or similar
• Project management and product launch experience
• Ability to work independently in a remote location
• Ability to travel 50-60% within Taiwan as well as to China or other to meet with suppliers, perform onsite inspection, perform contract reviews as part of sourcing process and perform quality audits

Desirable Qualifications:

• Familiarity with MRP systems
• Familiarity with structured problem solving methods (5-Why, Red X, etc.)
• Green belt/black belt certification in six sigma
• Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), gage R&R, PPAP
• Full understanding of drawing standards including of ASME Y14.5 (GD&T)
