The Director of Government Relations, China will have overall responsibility for developing and executing Seagate’s government relations strategy in China by building strong relationships with government stakeholders, identifying key opportunities and risks posed by government policies or initiatives, and representing Seagate interests in relevant industry groups.

The Director of Government Relations, China will also advise Seagate’s management team on risks and opportunities stemming from policy and regulatory developments and government initiatives in China. The position will work closely with a wide range of internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and to develop and execute plans to mitigate identified risks and leverage relevant opportunities with government partners at the national and provincial/municipal levels, as necessary.

The position will be based in Beijing, China, and report to the Director of Asia-Pacific Government Relations in Singapore.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant experience with a multinational company, consulting firm, government, and/or trade association in a related field (including, but not limited to, government relations, public affairs, policy research, etc.)
• Strong confidence and poise in representing Seagate with Chinese government stakeholders
• Deep understanding of Chinese government policies, processes and stakeholders at the national and provincial levels
• Familiarity with issues affecting multi-national technology companies in China
• Direct experience organizing and leading high-priority corporate initiatives and strategic policy and/or advocacy efforts in a dynamic environment
• Strategic thinker able to develop innovative solutions for a diverse set of complex, cross-functional challenges and opportunities
• Ability to operate independently but also as part of a global team that is spread across multiple geographic locations
• Demonstrated good business judgment and decision-making skills
• Ability to communicate persuasively and to provide clear and succinct analysis of complex policy issues and their impacts
• Bachelors or Masters Degree or equivalent experience
