Job Summary

    

    

Day to day activities include gathering information and writing and reporting on major trends in the warehousing and logistics property (real estate) market in China. This sector has exploded in importance in recent years as new industries like e-commerce have created new demand for efficient supply chains and distribution centers. The role will include a considerable contribution to the quality and accuracy of research produced by the firm, production of thought leadership publications, tailored consulting projects, and development of a constantly-evolving “house view” on property. Analysts in this role also will be trained to contribute to research on the office, retail, and residential sectors, as needed.

    

• Use primary and secondary data sources to compile information on warehouses and distribution centers in the China market, and the rise of logistics hub cities throughout the country.
• Develop expertise in local macro-economics, key industries like e-commerce, retail, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and manufacturing, supply chains, and transport infrastructure
• Coordinate data and reports from 20+ cities around the country to draw conclusions about regional and national trends
• Think critically to draw connections in cases where local markets are not transparent
• Become an expert on the China logistics real estate market, plus exposure to other sectors like office, retail, and residential.
• Form an opinion on the state of the market and the outlook for future trends.
• Write specialized market reports for data service subscribers as well as domestic and international clients keen to participate in the logistics sector
• Give presentations and client briefings on the property market in both English and Chinese.

                                    

    

Desired Skills & Experience

    

• A demonstrated interest or exposure to logistics real estate, supply chains, and/or e-commerce. This includes logistics developers, 3PLs, supply chains and distribution networks, fulfilment centers, transportation networks, logistics parks as well as ports and airports.
• Degree in a business or technical field with analytical training. Graduate degree is a major plus.
• International exposure through education and or past employment is preferred.
• China-specific exposure to property investment in China and/or property-related consulting, urban planning, or other related field is a major plus.
• Native fluency in Mandarin; communication and people skills are a key part of gathering insight in this field.
• Advanced fluency in English; you will be required to communicate in English with international clients and developers.
• Balance of strong quantitative/analytical skills and an ability to communicate clearly.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and travel independently when required (role is 10% travel).
• A sense of adventure and enthusiasm for fieldwork. Good field interview and cold call skills a major plus.
• Superior competence in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience and/or interest in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping applications
