OVERVIEW

The PR Manager, Gap Inc. will be a marketing generalist focusing on PR area. He/she is responsible for partnering with the Director, Digital & PR Manager, Gap Inc. on the development of PR plans,and responsible to drive plan implementations. The candidate will be required to understand the target customers in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and have the ability to maximize positive press coverage for the brand and proactively see out editorial opportunities at all levels. The candidate would be the main point of contact for trend/fashion/lifestyle press, with a responsibility to create and maintain relationships at the Fashion Director / (Sr.)Editor level. The candidate is responsible for managing sample coordination, both on and off location. He/she is responsible for understanding the seasonal product message sand for supporting all functions of the wardrobe process and ensuring all these are in line with cross-functional partners’ needs and business objectives. The candidate will partner with the domestic Marketing team, key internal business partners and cross-functional teams, and external marketing agencies or strategic partnership as appropriate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Public Relations:

1)Actively develops strategy/ demonstrates strategic thinking in building annual plans and timelines throughout the year for Gap/Old Navy/Gap Outlet

2)Works with PR & Digital Director to create strategic annual PR calendar highlighting agreed seasonal product stories and hero pieces

3)Manages PR agency and full teams in that regard

4)Develop and manage relationship with media, KOLs, and celebrities.

5)Shows creative thinking and actively seek and execute ideas that build brand credibility and drive sales

6)Manages relations with Greater China trend/fashion/lifestyle media, keeping brands top of mind by proactively pitching for media stories, ensure brand appears in every relevant story and is front of mind when product is selected

7)Works with agencies to select samples for key fashion stories, overseeing all call-ins to senior editors

8)Outlines pitch strategy/ target publication and then drive editorial in these areas on regular basis

9)Create sand manages press database and mailings

10)Manage showroom

11)Oversees media relations, identifying opportunities and sharing best practices

12)Develops strong cross functional relationships – influence and leverage PR successes across organization

13)Aggressively manages budgets on all PR activities whilst maintaining high standards

Wardrobe Management

Participates in Seasonal Line Adoption, to drive sample “hot list” for the marketing team(advertising, windows, visual, PR, etc.)

14)Key person responsible for organizing and managing incoming (receipt and check-in)and outgoing sample deliveries,ensuring brand styling rooms and showrooms are kept clean, organized and well managed

15)Facilitates delivery of marketed samples for key meetings such as PR showrooms.

16)Manages“top buy list” and works directly with merchandising and production teams to insure delivery deadlines for all shoots are being met

17)Owns setting up Key Item Meeting prior to photo shoot to align on all shoot product

18)Manages all Wardrobe needs for all advertising shoots for Greater China

19)Manages prepping and organizing all product to be shot, facilitates shot order (shot boards).

20)Facilitates fittings, speaking to ad sample and product details, ensuring fitting is correct.

21)Participate sin styling and pre-pro meetings, speaking as needed to factual product details.

22)Provides Brand Communication team, Creative Director, and external stylist with all product information needed

23)Creates the final shortlist with accurate product information for marketing team or business partners to use when referencing the shots

Event Management

24)Manages press events

25)Create sand manages compelling seasonal press days in China – that support marketing messages and drive seasonal focus

26)Works with merchant and product design to ensure press previews are timely to misdiagnosing editorial opportunities and on time for seasonal press gift mailing

1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities:

  1. Initiative: Ability to independently identify and capitalize on business opportunities, an agile self-starter, results-orientated, and able to deal with ambiguity
  2. Project management: able to work and deliver quality outcomes againstset timelines
  3. Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills.
  4. Creativity: Ability to identify/concept creative ideas that driveresults
  5. Detail: An impeccable eye for detail
  6. Consumer Insight: Ability to be the “voice of the consumer”.
  7. Brand: An understanding of Gap/Old Navy (including aesthetic and tastelevel).
  8. Relationship building: Proven experience and ability to workcross-functionally, especially with Creative organizations. Able to develop andmaintain different kinds of relationships.
  9. Cultural: An ability to interact with people in different cultures in away that promotes understanding, and is respectful and effective.
  10. Language: Fluent English writing and speaking level. Chinese (mandarin)language and/or knowledge of Chinese culture and consumer behavior would behighly advantageous.
  11. Passion: For Retail & Fashion

  • Experience Required
      1. Bachelor degree.
      2. 5+ years of brand marketing or PR experience, preferably in consumer goods, retail, fashion, apparel, or cosmetics.
      3. Project management skills.
      4. Influence communication skills.
