Key Responsibility:
Serve as a key active member of IRM’s claims management team, interacting with all team members to ensure business objectives are aligned and that the organisation is performing to operational objectives.
Manage the end-to-end claims process; continually improve the consistency and reliability of the service provided and increase operational efficiency.
Drive a highly effective operations culture and processes, to ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness of claims processing services to meet strict regulatory and customer established service levels.
Provide business judgment on the resolution of certain claims, minimising claims costs, and managing the resolution of the larger and more complex claims (including coordinating across multiple departments within the company).
Ensure all regulatory and compliance measures are met within global guidelines and drive operational excellence and best practices.
Develop and maintain continuous improvement capability, providing the tools and techniques to identify and sustain continuous improvement in the future.
Manage claims negotiations, systems with business partners, insurers, loss adjusters and underwriters (including external parties within agreed authority limits).
Develop and maintain appropriate metrics to benchmark and track compliance, (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring effectiveness and making sound product quality decisions.
Design, implement and document procedures for process control, process improvement, and auditing.
Perform root-cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and service improvements.
Acts as business partner providing consultation to support strategic initiatives and drive appropriate risk management practices.
Create a culture that promotes the company’s values and standards through role modelling, accountability and ownership of decisions.
Inspire and influence internal stakeholders, experts and other resources not under direct control, helping to remove obstacles and aiming goals achievement.
Increase claims competency, knowledge and awareness associated to the claims handling process, aligning with global initiatives.
Manage service quality & KPI monitoring in association with external parties (Insurers & third party claims administrators etc. within agreed authority and in conjunction with IRM London).
Qualifications & Attributes:
10+ years insurance claims handling experience, ideally associated to high volume marine cargo.
5+ years man management experience, leading and developing claims handlers
Degree in Insurance, Finance, Legal or other closely related field.
Diploma in insurance (ACI).
Industry experience – supply chain & logistics.
Experience of operating an end-to-end claims handling process.
Experience of cross boarder collaboration, ideally within a matrix organisation.
Worked within an international company with cross-border communication experience.
Experienced gained in a large group / company environment circa 30,000 + FTEs.
Experienced with operating within a matrix organisation, servicing multiple customers / stakeholders.
Fluent in English & Mandarin.
Able to reside in Shanghai, China.
