JOB SUMMARY:
The Mechanical Supplier Quality Engineer role is instrumental in maintaining the superior quality of Beats’ mechanical components manufactured at various supplier sites. As part of the Manufacturing Design organization, he/she will interact with and support both the Supplier Based Engineering and Mechancial Design teams. This person will also work closely with other cross-functional teams in the Operations and Engineering organizations, including, but not limited to the GSMs, PQMs, and MEs. This individual will be an integral part of supplier resolution on component quality related issues, while working to maintain the highest level of quality throughout product development and into mass production.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Main point of contact for issues related to mechanical components manufactured at the respective supplier site(s) for which this individual will be assigned.
? Serve as the project manager for component quality related issues by closing the feedback loop on issues reported from the FATP factory, including assembly and reliability related defects.
? Set expectations with the suppliers, including details on target yields, timely FACA on open issues, establishing a proper feedback loop from the FATP factories, and sustaining the same level of quality with and without Beats presence onsite.
? Set up incoming raw material inspection, testing and sampling plan to ensure material from sub-vendors is consistent and acceptable.
? Establish Quality Control Plan throughout the supply chain, starting with incoming raw material through FATP IQC, specifying AQL levels for all measurements and inspections.
? Establish cosmetic criteria alignment throughout the supply chain starting with the supplier to secondary processes and ending at FATP IQC; serve as the lead to coordinate between all factories and internal cross-functional teams to ultimately come to an agreement on acceptable standards.
? Provide support to the SBE team in establishing target yields during development, as well as target yields for mass production
? Lead efforts performing MSA on the gauge list provided by the SBE team for all critical dimensions; align MSOP requirements throughout the supply chain and perform data correlation studies as part of the verification process.
? Support copy-tooling qualification by data mining through CpK studies provided by the supplier; perform sample measurements to maintain data integrity from the supplier.
? Provide daily and/or weekly quality yield reports on assigned suppliers to senior management and other parts of the organization during the Validation Phase and through the critical ramp period.
DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
? Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Master’s Degree preferred.
? 5-10 years relevant work experience either as an ME or a QE.
? Hands on experience with mechanical enclosures, plastic parts, injection molding, tools, jigs, fixtures
? Experience with development and evaluation of measurement systems including correlation studies, GageR&R, and MSOPs.
? Experience developing Quality Control Plans and performing supplier evaluation audits.
? Expert knowledge in root cause analysis and the use of quality tools such 8D, FMEA, Fishbone Diagram, 5Ms, 5Ys, etc.
? Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2008 standards.
? Excellent skills in statistical analysis, particularly as it relates to process capability and
estimating yields.
? Excellent skills in collecting, analyzing and presenting quality data and metrics.
? Working knowledge of process analysis and continuous improvement.
? Practical knowledge in project management and team facilitation.
? Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both written and verbal, in English and Mandarin.
? Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
COMPUTER & EQUIPMENT SKILLS:
? Proficient in Excel, Keynote, and statistical software – Minitab or equivalent.
? Knowledge of product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and tools such as Arena and/or Agile.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Sits for extended periods of time at a computer station or work desk; stands and walks throughout the day; uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment for up to 8 hours each day; lifts up to 10 pounds regularly; exposed to typical factory environment conditions and noise levels.
