GAP POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Industrial Engineer - Asia

REPORTING TO: Global Engineering, Asia Engineering Manger LOCATION: Tokyo

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Industrial Engineer will support facility design, capacity and throughput capability for all Gap Inc. Distribution Centers in Asia. This position ensures maximum productivity, quality and service by utilizing engineering techniques and subject matter expertise in the area of: facility design, process engineering, work measurement, and lean operations. Work direction and leadership will be provided by the Asia Engineering Manager based in Shanghai.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Works with Gap Inc. service providers’ technical resources to create and implement productivity, throughput and capacity solutions that maximize gain share opportunity, improve service and speed to market, and maintain capacity and flexibility in the company’s supply chain
? Analyzes methods and procedures of current operations to develop standards and best practices for warehouse operations leveraging engineering techniques and benchmarks from Gap Inc. North America and European operations and Global Engineering Services
? Ensures that all standards and best practices are consistently applied across the Asia distribution network and updated as necessary through monitoring of KVIs and visiting Asia facilities on a regular basis
? Drives annual productivity targets in all Asia DCs, ensures accurate and timely distribution of DC productivity information and recommendations for continuous improvement across the region
? Provides ROI evaluations of all material handling system and capital expenditures based on capacity throughput, labor savings, and facility design
? Identifies and develops cost reduction opportunities in end-to-end supply chain including sourcing, transportation, regionalization, and stores for the Asia Region by applying logistics engineering techniques and practices while balancing the value of speed to market and service to stores
? Understands and leverages warehouse management and Gap corporate systems to analyze trends within the facilities and identifies hopportunities in inventory, SKU management, and operational capacity
? Reviews and develops system enhancements for warehouse management systems to best utilize existing technology

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Knowledge, skills & abilities:
? Strong knowledge of Distribution Center operations
? Ability to carry out Industrial Engineering assignments of a broad nature
? Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
? Prioritizes work and manages resources appropriately
? Ability to influence others
? Manages work independently and as part of a team
? Drives change and delivers results
? Strong communication (English required with Cantonese or Mandarin preferred)

2) Minimum educational level and experience
? Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering
