Key Responsibilities:
Provide project leadership for key projects including new process or product development, capital projects such as capacity expansions, relocation, modifications, alterations, or manufacturing process improvements.
Establish requirements with customer(s). Understand voice of customer(s) and nature of the business requirements for each project.
Establish overall project plans (scope, schedule, cost estimates, project acceptance criteria, procurement/contracting strategy, risk management, etc). Assist in project evaluation and justification. Work with the business in the preparation of Appropriation Requests (A/R).
Establish roles, responsibilities and competencies required for the project. Build an effective project team utilizing internal and external personnel resources with the ability to operate and supervise matrixed organizations. Establish receivership requirements for project.
Conduct project meetings and document key issues, action items and decisions. Communicate and provide guidance to project team members (Engineering/Manufacturing) based on organizational goals and company policy.
Provide periodic project updates to customer(s) and management. Communicate project goals, objectives, key status information and overall impact of the project effectively with project team members.
Effectively implement all phases of project methodologies to include appropriate initiation, planning, implementation and control, and close-out elements.
Regularly and effectively communicate and update project key issues, status of completion and financial forecasts with project customers, senior management sponsors and senior management steering teams.
Actively coach and develop individuals on project team. Project team member assignments established with individual competency development as objective.
Share expertise and knowledge to foster continuous improvement of the organization (project team or functional unit).
Implement and role model safety program to ensure that LTAs and Recordable Incidence rate = or < Corporate targets.
Conduct a project critique at completion and share key learnings with others unassociated with the project.
Provide recognition to project and customer team members.
Direct responsibility to facility, division or business customers for project results.
Manage a limited range of projects which may have significant financial and/or strategic impact on the corporation. Successfully manage innovation projects.
Practices adaptive management style to effectively manage projects in global operating arena. Leverage working with different cultures on international assignments.
Interface coordination in between process equipment and facility system; in between each facility sub-contractors
Development and implementation of the QA/QC plan for incoming material, test plan with vendor
Review and implementation JSA (SWMS) with safety team and vendor
Issue weekly/monthly report related to safety, schedule and quality for construction
Addressing potential Safety issues in the contractor’s Work Safe plan with creative solutions appropriate to the contractor’s capability and site’s construction practices.
Education & Experience
Master’s degree and above in Mechanical engineering, Facility engineering or Marine engineering or engineering management related field of study.
Overseas educational experience is a plus.
Required Skills
Facility engineering background with 15+ years experiences in plant construction project or expansion project.
Design and implement facility auxiliary equipment
Effective working with contractors
Knowledge of project management in schedule, cost and quality control
Knowledge of construction practices
Knowledge of facility system installation and hook up
Soft Skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to work independently and directly with project customers to scope out project scope, identify project requirements and deliverables.
Team player, perform well as an individual subject matter expert contributor.
Problem solving and analytical skills.
Demonstrate willingness and passion to learn new technologies.
