Main Tasks
1. Lead the material team
? Actively manage the specialists within the material team. Coach, develop and motivate staff members through frequent feedback talks, performance analysis, corrective action plans and information exchange. Ensure all reports receive an annual appraisal and an assessment during and at the end of the probation period. Together with HR, facilitate all steps and necessary follow-ups after appraisals. Control attendance records and ensure abnormal situations are identified and handled correctly
? Work closely with the product development teams to continuously improve the process and the cooperation
? Ensure tight control of costs in the management of the team
? Ensure all team members receive all relevant information distributed by the company. Share team relevant market knowledge and strategies with all team members
2. Operational management
? Seasonally review the allocation of manpower to ensure resources are optimized and the workload is balanced within the team
? Continuously review and update material quality and testing standard and requirements. Align and maintain processes and standards across the different product categories, IIC and Direct Customers
? Maintain check points throughout the material development and production process to ensure processes, plans and strategies are implemented. Continuously analyze and report the performance against key performance indicators (quality performance, delivery performance, price negotiation performance, financial indicators, etc.)
? Monitor and support the team members throughout the price negotiation process. Actively do final negotiations with suppliers to achieve the best possible price
? Monitor execution of random chemical test during material development process to ensure product compliant with INTERSPORT Norms and Regulations
? Actively support to resolve problems which are being elevated from the team members
? Hold regular team meetings to document the progress within the development process and any problems encountered. Ensure minutes with clear next steps are taken and distributed within the team and to the superior
3. Planning and strategic implementation
? Develop material sourcing strategies and manage execution of seasonal material supplier sourcing planning, supplier evaluation, and capacity planning
? Plan and provide a seasonal trend presentation to IIC, IOF Development and (where applicable) Direct Customers
? Create and implement annual action plans in close cooperation with the Product Development Director, and in line with overall company strategies. Budget costs accordingly
? Budget regular costs with main focus on travel costs and staff costs (in close cooperation with HR)
4. Others
? Ensure that new team members are introduced, trained and supported until fully able to fulfill in their new position
? Plan and execute other tasks and projects as delegated by the Product Development Director
Requirements
? Textile engineering education is a must
? At least 7years working experience in textile industry
? Minimum 3years in team management position
Skills and knowledge:
? Strong knowledge of materials (factory set up, production techniques and process, lead times, etc.) and aspects in relation to the production of apparel. Continuously keeps up to date on all relevant trends and innovations
? Strong knowledge of all factors affecting material pricing. Keeps up to date in the development of market pricing
? Strong analytical skills: ability to draw conclusions from complex data
? Knowledge of the sporting goods market; competitors (brands and retailers), economic situation and factors in key markets, target consumers, etc.
? Leadership skills: able to influence and motivate own team members, but also others (without formal authority). Able to successfully lead meetings to achieve the defined objectives
? Strong negotiation and conflict management skills: able to effectively negotiate solutions with all involved internal or external parties when conflicts of interest arise. Able to use knowledge to negotiate costs and prices with material suppliers
? Strong communication and presentation skills: Able to convince others and to sell ideas, concepts and processes
? Cultural awareness and understanding: Able to manage relationships and achieve results in the cooperation with stakeholders of different cultural backgrounds
? Open and approachable personality: Able to easily build and maintain relationships with all peers and stake holders
? Language skills: fluent in English
? Computer skills: proficient user of MS Office Applications (including Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and knowledge of SAP and PLM
