Position Summary:
Installation, service and maintenance of Varian Medical Systems Security & Inspection Products (SIP) with limited supervision.
Provides (in co-operation with senior support engineers and / or the supervisor) technical assistance on-site and / or by phone to customers, to maintain high quality performance of Varian Security & Inspection products Worldwide
Major responsibilities:
1. Install, maintain and repair to the highest standard, Varian Medical Systems Security & Inspection Products with limited technical or direct supervision. Instruct customers in operation and maintenance of Varian Medical Systems Security & Inspection Products.
2. Maintain customer confidence through professional communication & technical expertise, including efficient and effective troubleshooting. Act as a loyal representative of Varian Medical Systems, showing high confidence in the company and the company’s products.
3. Provide phone support and troubleshooting directions to customers in close cooperation with specialists from other geographical areas.
4. Act as a product specialist. Bring safety problems and repetitive costly repair problems to the attention of senior support specialists and / or the local area manager.
5. Report his / her activity within the expected time frame on standard forms (i.e. service reports, weekly time sheets, expense reports, etc.) and prepare travel schedules in advance.
6. Correspond with customers concerning technical matters. Prepare special reports on customer remarks, sales prospects, competition information, etc.
7. Keep informed regarding all operating characteristics, design factors and technical performance of Varian Medical Systems Security & Inspection Products.
8. Maintain and permanently up-date personal set of technical documentation.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience:
Graduate of technical institute or university in electronics or equivalent Military training in basic electronics.
Graduate in electrical engineering, mechatronics or related fields and/or equivalent technical work related experience.
Must be professional and tactful; willing to travel extensively and willing to work at short notice and outside standard hours as required to support the customers/products.
Fluency in English and the local language required.
Knowledge:
Information Technology: Word: report summaries
Excel (advanced): data collection and reporting
PowerPoint: presentation purposes
Microsoft Communication tools: emails, schedules, live meetings
Lotus Notes: service reporting
Customers: Excellent Communication skills to meet customer’s expectations
Business Procedures: Basic understanding of logistical processes
Technical expertise: Must be proficient to operate an Oscilloscope, DVM and read schematics. PLC Logic programming also an advantage.
Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) certification would be an advantage.
Skills:
1. Basic all round knowledge of electronic, electrical & mechanical components and applications
2. Expertise to react and troubleshoot efficiently and logically under pressure & at short notice.
3. Ability to interface, communicate and train the customer in the operation of the Security and Inspection Products
4. Willing to accept key role and responsibilities within the Territory Service Team as requested.
5. Up to 80% travel potential
Other Notes:
1. Preference that this person is or has been a Siemens or GE field service engineer for their CT equipment. It will shorten their training period.
2. This individual will spend a significant amount of time over the next year in SLC for training, integration, etc. They will need to spend about ½ or more of their time here over the next year. They will have to be clearly able and eligible to get the appropriate US Visa. They will also likely need to be able to travel to Germany for some training or to join some of the collaboration meetings there.
3. Travel – they will become the first contact for support in China. The first customer is NMS, but we will be expanding that customer base very soon. They must be willing and able to travel to the customer MFG sites as well as in the future if there are hospital locations were the OEM service engineers are struggling with a serious issue that they will need to be able to go into the hospitals to support.
4. We need someone who will also be a good trainer. They will be a key part of developing training materials for the OEM engineering staff as well as training materials for OEM service engineering departments. We are envisioning creating a kind of training facility within the Wuxi plant where the OEM can send their service engineers for Varex product specific training.
5. We are looking for an innovative and motivated individual who can really be a leader for us there to grow this CT sub-system market.
