We are currently looking for an experienced Raw Material Developer to manage the R&D aspects of fabric, garment dye and print development for one of our leading Australian casual clothing brands.

The suitable candidate will also identify the seasonal product trend, new technology, colour and print. Helping to develop predominately weft knit material products and new suppliers to support the Australia business units in product innovation and creativity.

Help to build up material sourcing capabilities to provide market information to support business’ on costing, new products and capability

Job Description:

· Work with overseas R&D team and Design Team to develop new fabrics, elastics, garment dye and printing techniques

· Mange meetings and communications with the customer. Distribute weekly updates and reports

· Be aware of new trends and products. Undertake regular visits to fairs and source new suppliers as required.

· Good knowledge on China Fabric mills, Garment dyer, printer and Garment market.

· Work with new and existing supply base to create products that perform to technical standards.

· Conduct fabric & trim testing and be able to make the appropriate evaluation of those results, which including fabric analysis, colour fastness, physical testing etc

· Work well with a broad range of individuals: factory technicians, merchandising team and customers

Requirements:

· A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a similar position

· Degree/Diploma in a Textile related discipline

· Experience of working closely with fabric mills.

· High level of technical skills with knowledge of yarn spinning, knitting, dyeing and finishing. Thorough understanding of fabrics production quality standards

· Mature thinking, energetic, analytical, attention to details, well organized. Preferably with buying office / trading background

· Good command of both written and spoken English

· Strong proficiency in Windows based software (Excel, Word, Access, Powerpoint)
