POSITION OVERVIEW
The AP EHS Manager reports to the Operations Director for Asia Pacific region and dotted line to the Global Director of EHS, and has the primary responsibility in establishing, implementing and improving an effective and efficient EHS management system in Asia Pacific that would drive EHS compliance through employee behavior. The scope of responsibility is not limited to Operations but would also include Sales, R&D and other support functions. Create and maintain an EHS management structure for Asia Pacific Region that is cost competitive, effective and efficient.
Key Objectives:
1. Implement an EHS management system that would cover all personnel and activities in Asia Pacific (Mfg., R&D, Sales, Support, Admin, Logistics, etc.)
2. Leverage the EHS resources at each manufacturing or laboratory site in Asia Pacific to establish not only EHS expertise at the sites but also use these resources to create a network of subject matter experts that can help other sites.
3. Working with Global EHS leadership, interpret EHS philosophy, issues, standards, programs and requirements.
4. Review and interpret regulatory requirements and trends, develop recommendations and programs for compliance.
5. Recommend and develop internal programs, standards, and criteria to meet WEHS policy and regulatory requirements.
PRIMARY DUTIES
This individual will be involved in a variety of activities, primarily, with internal customers, depending on need there might be activities involved with external customers. Depending on knowledge, there may be direct dealing with regulators. The position is responsible for ensuring execution of EHS programs and initiatives for all locations in the Asia Pacific and for all employees. Metrics are used to monitor EHS performance and are reported to Corporate. Tools are used to streamline compliance activities. Primary duties including:
45% Implement and manage an effective and efficient EHS Management System that would provide a strong foundation for achieving world class EHS performance focused on changing employee behavior.
35% Enhance the capabilities of the EHS network in AP. Work with Facilities managers to train and develop EHS leaders for the site and for the EHS network.
10% Work with the global EHS management team to continually improve and/or strengthen EHS systems, program implementation and talent development.
5% MONITOR REGULATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Monitor Asia Pacific regulations for emerging requirements. Prepare/update training, guidelines, regulatory updates, and Best Management Practices for HBF operations.

5% Prepare reports to provide the Leadership teams and employee a snapshot view of our performance and direction.
EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED
All AP Site EHS leaders will have dotted line reporting to this person.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY
No direct EHS budget management at site but will be responsible for managing the budget set aside in the region for global EHS projects.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
? Bachelors Degree
? Experience in chemical manufacturing environment
? Excellent leadership and team building skills.
? Excellent communication skills.
? Excellent analytical skills.
? Proficient computer skills, multilingual for better communications with the region and corporate.
? Ability to travel frequently interstates/overseas as required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
? Bachelors degree in Science or Engineering
? 5 years experience – EHS role in manufacturing
? Should possess or seek to achieve a professional certification in EHS
? Experience with EHS training programs, auditing and inspections requirements
? Experience in supporting senior executives with establishing, implementing and monitoring organizational EHS strategies, goals and actions
? Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities, ensuring that plans, guidance and advice is accurate, timely and effective.
? Effective written/oral communications with ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization
? Strong leadership, team building and mentoring skills
? Microsoft suite – word, excel, access, projects, powerpoint,
? Language skills (English and one or more Asian languages)
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
? Must be comfortable with factory environments
? Must be prepare to travel to remote locations or relocate
