Role Purpose:
? To expand and exploit the RB external network to build OI capability to identify relevant partners, products and technologies to deliver value into the RB Pipeline (Health, Hygiene and Home) with a particular focus on Health
? To support pipeline initiatives with externally sourced resources, products or technologies
? To use external innovation sources to help define the strategy for product development
projects
? To manage partnerships with external providers, through formal legal agreements and informal contacts.
? To provide the business with access to data, samples, and information from external parties to facilitate development.
? To build the external network in the region to provide broader exposure to new and relevant
external innovation.
? To work within the matrix organisation to promote the use of OI methodologies and increase the amount of externally sourced technology in the pipeline.
Scope:
? Supporting the key strategic outside innovation needs of the business wherever they arise (CDO, POD’s, Sprints, PO1, IMEX) as agreed through portfolio management team.
? Increasing the use of OI to support innovation needs
? Increasing the size and utility of the regional external network.
? Working within the matrix organisation to facilitate the identification, initiation, definition and
delivery of innovation projects.
? Cross-category, brand agnostic
Accountabilities:
? Delivering externally sourced products and technologies to support RB innovation projects.
? Increasing the % of pipeline NR coming from externally sourced technologies
? Bringing new opportunities to the table and sharing them widely to generate interest and
action.
? Expanding the external network
? Improving the up-take of externally sourced products and technologies.
? Supporting and implementing OI strategies to connect local stakeholders.
o Supporting OI team to get the first hand local business needs and correct contact
o people.
o Supporting China OI manager to be aware of local business events and set up efficient communications with local stakeholders.
o Executing OI strategies efficiently in terms of local business support.
o Working with China OI manager to increase the use of OI on local business.
Key challenges:
? Working within the matrix to increase the use of OI to support RB’s innovation needs.
? Ensuring we have a truly global external network and can access innovation wherever it is
identified.
? Increasing the impact of OI in RB
Skills & experience required:
? Above 5 years of working experience in FMCG company (ideally Health Care) in R&D or Sourcing team.
? Understanding of the Open Innovation landscape in China and its challenges and opportunities.
? Understanding of a variety of OI techniques to identify external sources of innovation, proactively and against a specific target
? Experience of working in partnerships with external providers through correct legal frameworks and informal contacts
? Understanding of different sourcing strategies to support the innovation needs of the business
? Experience of working within the creative innovation space
? Experience executing contracts with 3rd parties
? Experience of working within cross functional, globally spread teams
? Broad experience across brands and categories
? A good teamwork player with enthusiasms & ambitious on results delivery.
? Self-motivated, and passionate for novel technologies and products.
? Available for business travel.
? Excellent written and oral communication skills in Mandarin and English.

? Beijing or Dongguan.
