Position Summary
In close collaboration with factories, sourcing and buying teams, the Technical Designer will technically design and develop new and existing baby care products to match market trends with a priority to optimize costing.

What the Technical Designer will do:
?Research, develop and propose new product designs for existing product categories and those targeted for expansion with the sourcing and buying teams
?Build product specifications with US designers and buyers in product development stage
?Provide technical and engineering support to factories to improve the product costing
?Conduct frequent follow up with factories to ensure they meet the requirements set in product development stage
?Assist and review the factory internal test facilities and provide technical support
?Conduct bulk production performance test on-site
?Review the product damage and return rate regularly and follow up with factories
?Arrange 3rd party tests, if necessary
?Arrange technical training to both internal and external parties to ensure process alignment with Company SOPs
?Assist in strategic review and follow-up issues with factories if necessary

What we are looking for:
The candidate will have significant experience in industrial design, mastering all necessary tools, with a focus on all types of baby care products. The candidate will have had successful projects leading to product cost reduction through design innovations, raw material replacement, production process, etc. The design will have to focus on optimized costing as well as the customer product experience to transform great ideas into successful commercial products. Experience in the factory environment is clearly a plus as there will be frequent interaction with production engineers to follow-up production challenges. Positive, pro-active and creative, the candidate will have to work in autonomy as well as in collaboration with different stakeholders and will have to adapt to different expectations.

?Education
-Tertiary level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing System Engineering, or related technical discipline
-Degree in Industrial Design or a similar field
-Graduated from a designer school

?Experience
-5 to 7 years of experience in manufacturing and/or testing of baby care products
-Capability and experience in transforming ideas into great industrial and commercial product reality through good project management
-Significant experience in all production types (hard toy/ soft toy)

?Knowledge
-US Baby care products & market
-Plastic injection & metal-based products
-Masters all material specifications, benefits and disadvantages
-Masters production cycle time, process control and problem solving

?Design capabilities
-Familiar with technical drawings and applications
-Hand Sketch capabilities
-2D Software: Illustrator, Coreldraw, Photoshop, Adobe
-3D Software: Solidwork, 3D studio Max

Successful product/design in world market, preferably in the US
