SUMMARY:
The Technical Trims Developer will drive Product Commercialization activities for the Licensed Headwear Business Unit. This candidate will be accountable for seamless execution of established product roadmaps for Headwear (on time, at cost, and at approved quality level). Technical Developer will partner closely with the Headwear Development team, as well as Regional Office and UA manufacturing partners to ensure all margin, development, quality and production targets are being 100% met.
The critical metric for execution will be Buy Ready.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following. Other duties may also be assigned.
? Lead the trim development process in Asia for all headwear styles assigned, – all channels and genders; for all global markets that align with UA high quality and performance standards, while meeting assigned margin targets.
? Manage the trim development calendar, focusing on hitting all key milestone gates and dates as outlined in the development calendar.
? Work with Tier2 trim suppliers to drive prototypes and samples on time delivery, within UA quality standards.
? Support the prototyping/sampling process for headwear trims. Ensure timely and accurate trim sample comments and drive trim cost saving and trim testing.
? Interact and collaborate with UA partners –internal & external.
? Manage and maintain trim tracker in timely manner and drive trim cost saving and trim testing
? Collaborate with MLB accessory technical developer to ensure all the trims and embellishments fit the products.
? Facilitate the communication within the product creation team to ensure the easy flow and access of information.
? Interact and collaborate with UA apparel and footwear trims development teams and ensure seamless integration.
? Support the Buy –Ready status of new products launches and supports Production-Ready for all new products launches.
? Collaborate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control process, when needed, in order to facilitate the creation of new standards and the implementation of new and existing standards.
? Travel to Tier 2 suppliers to drive sourcing and development projects
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
? To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ? Candidate must be able to travel to factories on as needed basis. Primary travel will be Asia Pacific and or any other area assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
? 3-5 years’ experience working in sporting goods or fashion industry in trim development, sourcing, design, supply chain or manufacturing with a strong understanding of product creation process
? Bachelor degree required.
? Solid understanding of accessory trims development and construction.
? Experience in trim development and application techniques- including but not limited to embroidery, heat seals, patches, screen prints, TPU, sublimation, flocking. Experience in MLB is preferred.
? Understanding and experience in a wide range of fabrications and materials- for both product and trims.
? Ability to analyze all components for quality and durability.
? Up-to-date with the trim trends – consumer needs – product features – regulations.
? Experience in product development, supply chain management or global sourcing with a strong focus on project management
? Ability to work well with others in a cross-functional team environment
? High level attention to details and follow up.
? Disciplined approach to product commercialization
? Strong sense of self-initiative – leadership and management.
? Strong project management and problem solving skills. Ability to handle large volume of styles and skus.
? Excellent oral and written communication skills with focus on email / conference communication with overseas / off-site sources
? Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
? Good skill set with Adobe programs (Illustrator)
? Knowledge and experience in product lifecycle managements systems
? Strong knowledge of SAP or other similar enterprise wide MRP system
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
? Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks.
? Ability to be assertive without being offensive.
? Teamwork orientated, Honest and Self-motivated, works under own direction.
? Ability to work well under pressure.
? Ability to travel upon request.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
? Good English skills. Should have experience in working with a multi-national company.
? Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
? Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from their counterparts at UA HO, their team mates, factory partners, various groups of vendor representatives, clients, customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
? Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
? Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
