Role Accountabilities:
Agronomy Services
Provide the full range of agronomic services to the cropping business for the long term sustainable (economic, environmental and social) operation of the business
This will include:
Contribtion to the cropping operations plan development (1)
Development of detailed fertilizer, herbicide, pesticide and fungicide programs for specific crops in speficic areas
Monitoring of the implementation of these detailed plans
Daily and weekly observations of crops
Development and implementation of the plant, insect and soil during each cropping cycyle
Development and implementation of the annual soil testing program
Oversee the irrigation programs to ensure water use efficiency and optimization of plant growth in line with agreed business objectives (water application, projected crop yields, no run off)
Provide technical training to Pure Source staff and contractors in all aspects of agronomy and water use, including
Chemical application for Pure Source staff who spread fertilizer and spray agricultal chemicals (herbicides, pesticides and fungicides)
Application of water by casual labour
Tillage, sowing and harvesting requirments (including best practice) with third party contractors
Develop plans to increase soild carbon and healthy soilds, which may include the use of
Solid cow effluent
Rice hulls, straw and other organic materials from the dairy farm
People: relationships and development
Work alongside the Cropping Supervisors to ensure the work force (permanent, temporary and contractors) have the required skills to complicantly implement the agreed cropping plan
Develop a network of external experts which may include the ministry of agriculture, university, local cropping trial site managers to understand local best practice agronomy and understand how it can be incorporated in the Pure Source cropping operations plan (1)
Contribute to the cropping operations plan (1)
Work with the Cropping Manager to support the development of a scientifically based, environmental and financially sustainable cropping program for Pure Source
Interact with selected external service providers for seed, chemicals, fertilizer, for the growing of crops
Identify and propose for approval new and improved ways to improve the economic, environmental and social sustainability of the cropping business
Implement the cropping operations plan (1)
Implement the agreed cropping operational plan (1) by providing agronomic support, testing, monitoring and advice
Ensure the systems and controls are in place for the rimplemention and reporting of all agronomic information for the cropping business
Environmental monitoring and recording
Manage the environmental testing, monitoring and recording and reporting of all chemical and water applications to all the land being cropped by Pure Source
This would include: herbicides, fungicides, pesticides, fertilizer (chemical and organic) and all liquid fertilizer and water used for irrigation
Manage the soil and water testing of the land to measure and monitor changes.
Develop, design and recommend for approval plans to maintain or improve the quality of the environment (with a focus on soil, water and air) where Pure Source crops
Implement the agreed plans to maintain or improve the quality of the environment
Health & Safety Accountabilities – Individual Contributor
The employee will identify and report all hazards and incidents.The employee will participate fully in the Health & Safety improvement process.The employee will co-operate fully in any injury management process to ensure full participation in the workforce after cleared fit for duties by a registered medical practitioner.
Food Safety and Quality Accountabilities– Individual Contributor
The employee will be familiar with and comply with all aspects of JV’s food quality systems, policies and processes.The employee will identify and report all food safety and/or food quality hazards or breaches.
The employee will report any instance of suspected and/or confirmed contagious/infectious diseases, which has the potential to implicate food safety, including any instance of vomiting, diarrhoea, or blood borne infections. This includes, but is not limited to, any local regulatory requirements.
Qualification and experience
1.Qualifications in agriculture / Agricultural science/ land based science/ agronomy， Masters degree is preferred.
2.Minimum 5 years experience in China,10 years experience and oversees experience is preferred.
3. Experience in large scale broad acre cropping, precision farming, irrigation
Experience with winter cereals and summer corn
4. Proficient written English, Intermediate aural english
