Day to Day Responsibilities:
Be responsible to understand the problems from the customer's point of view in order to build and execute data analytic strategy and work plans, and communicate technical analyses and results to internal customers
Act as an expert in Data Analytics to wisely use mathematical & statistical methods and models to support the creation and/or delivery of insights for existing or new Corning manufacturing processes.
Perform exploratory and targeted data analyses to identify key process variables by leveraging multivariate statistical methods and machine learning techniques, and apply the findings to process measurement and control solutions.
Select, evaluate and implement analytical methods and options by utilizing commercial and/or open source data analytic software packages. In addition, be able to leverage knowledge from outside and ensure sustainable implementation and knowledge transfer
Write technical reports summarizing development, application, and validation of the technical analysis
Education & Experience
Minimum MS Degree (PhD preferred) in mathematics, statistics, computer science or a comparable field of study.
Relevant professional experiences and a traceable background in statistics and data analysis.
Required Skills
Be well acquainted in dealing with mathematical & statistical algorithms (e.g. numerical optimization, neural networks, etc.) and machine learning techniques (e.g. clustering, regression, Bayesian models, etc.).
Broad knowledge in commercial and open source analysis and visualization tools (e.g. R, Python, Matlab) as well as in working with complex databases
Knowledge and understanding in Smart Manufacturing.
Ability to work independently under pressure to propose, prioritize and lead data analytic initiatives through strategy to projects execution with strong hands-on capability
Desired Skills
Be familiar with Big Data technologies (such as Hadoop, Spark, etc) and Cloud solutions
Be familiar with measurement system analysis (MSA) techniques and design of experiment (DOE)
Be familiar with image processing and machine vision.
Knowledge of databases.
Soft Skills
Maintain technical curiosity and willingness to learn with strong problem solving and analytical skills
Collaboratively work in a multinational interdisciplinary team with matrix organization
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Strategic leadership skill in advancing new data analytics technology across the company
