Position Overview
Lead indirect purchasing efforts for the company. Responsible for development and implementation of purchasing strategies, policies and procedures for all indirect materials based on industry best practice and in alignment with Steelcase culture.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
?Implement indirect purchasing strategies, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the Regional Procurement Manager/ Procurement Director.
?Detailed understanding of the indirect purchasing process for expenses falling under the budget authority of the Procurement Director.
?Preparation of Indirect/Direct PO’s on an as needed basis.
?Review of all completed Indirect PO’s on a daily basis to assure that Steelcase is allocating its financial resources in the most effective way possible.
?Responsible for contract review from a purchasing perspective for all indirect supplies/services.
?Lead the system evaluation of the existing PO process to align Steelcase with best practices within SAP with the assistance of Finance and IT.
?Establish confidence of budget managers and relationship with vendors to eventually assume negotiation of all contracts with vendors, including follow-up, scheduling, and expediting deliveries
?Build and develop relationships/partnerships with key indirect suppliers to allow the eventual management of vendor relationships within the purchasing group.
?Monitor Purchasing activities and measurements including the compilation of maintenance of organized purchasing records by assuring that purchase activities are fully documented.
?Oversight over all areas of indirect purchasing for any areas falling under the org structure of Asia Pacific Procurement.
?Ongoing review of existing purchasing system to ensure that we are aligned with best practices.
?Self –motivated, self -starter and have exposure working in Global Procurement Environment with multi-cultural environment.

Minimum Requirements:
?Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or in related field required.
?Minimum of 7 years purchasing experience.
?Strong knowledge of indirect buying processes related to specifications, qualifications and material and vendor’s requirements.
?Strong people skills and Good English command, written and spoken, communication in other language is an advantage.
?Prior supervisory experience required.
?Detailed knowledge of efficient flow of a purchasing system and the necessary controls to be maintained.
?Strong analytical and problem solving skills to including collecting and analyzing data resulting in fiscally responsible decisions.
?Excellent negotiating skills.
?Knowledge of vendors and sources of supply.
?Ability to multi-task, strong organization skills and superior attention to detail.
?Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel.
?Prior experience on an ERP system is required (SAP experience is a plus).
