Job Description for
The Director, Product Innovation is responsible for all phases of new product development and product reformulation processes from concept to consumer within Company Systems.
This individual must be innovative and creative with a keen awareness of global trend of the water/air industry and technology trends relating to wellness. This position requires a solid understanding of product development fundamentals with an expertise in manufacturing along with the ability to apply strategic thinking throughout ideation and conceptualization.

This individual is expected to;
1. Supporting best practices. This involves scouting and standardizing market research methods for novel ideas and insights; strategic innovation; promoting open innovation; and introducing group tools and processes that encourage creative thinking.
2. Developing skills. This is about training company personnel on the skills they need, and developing and applying measures to track improvements in innovation and the skills underpinning them.
3. Supporting business units in new product and service initiatives. This means acting as methodology expert and facilitator for the most critical innovation teams across the company, supporting them in “raising the bar” of their aspirations. Training other managers to perform these roles also allows them to support innovation in business units.
4. Identifying new market spaces. This includes analyzing trends and market disruptions and searching for emerging new market opportunities. In some cases, they’ll need to be developed at the corporate level when they do not fit into the current business units’boundaries.
5. Helping people generate ideas. Setting up and running ideas generation platforms and formats like jam sessions, hackathons, and internal or external crowdsourcing for the benefit of the corporation.
6. Directing budget and funding. Owning and allocating a yearly budget to fund programs that are key for the business units, or outside their existing business boundaries with has a potential for growth, which might not otherwise have been considered in Marmon 80/20. This will provide Company System to nourish and protect new ideas.
7. Manage the Parking lot for promising projects. Designing resource allocation processes (portfolio, stage-gate, capex, budgeting) to take potentially disruptive innovations forward to the market while managing managers and stakeholders who are invested in the status quo.

Responsibilities
- Works with the leaders, internal and external stakeholders and team members to determine apparent and latent needs of the market, members and light industries for each identified product development initiative.
- Ensures adherence to innovation process, and develops protocols that support the creative process of discovering opportunities, building concepts, testing concepts through prototype, and advancing concepts with sound desirability, feasibility and viability to pilots and handing off new offerings to other departments of the company in preparation for pilot/launch.
- Ensures adherence to and develops protocols that support business case rigor for new concepts through prototype including product roadmaps and operational business plans.
- Delivers products and innovation on time and within budget expectations.
- Sustains & optimizes a self-directed team model, fostering a culture of curiosity & learning and delivering high performance outcomes.
- Provides in-depth technical expertise through coordination, implementation and delivery of product development.
- Excels at written and oral communication, empowering the creative process (team mediated discussions and workshops) and equally following up with written protocols (market plan, business plan, communication plans and reports).
- Effectively keeps innovation leaders informed of the production schedule, milestones and proactively seeks counsel to remove barriers.
- Effectively communicates and coordinates with functional stakeholders, members, supplies and partners to assess capability synergies & needs and ensure successful deliverables.
- Builds a strong relationship with Product Strategy, Product Management, Finance & Planning stakeholders, engages them early with each product development initiative and through the process.
- Works with innovation team leaders to forecast and build ongoing budgets.
- Actively seeks and reviews suggestions for improvement in the innovation process, product development process and through team mediated discussions, strengthen the experience felt by the team, subject matter experts and members connected with the process.
- Master’s degree preferred
- 10+ years’ of experience in strategy, product development and/or start-up environment and Managing teams.
