Department: BT Commercial
Position Purpose
Provide Business Technology (BT) leadership for the PAH business in Greater China.
The business relies heavily on information technology (IT). The China BT Partner will be a key partner in enabling optimal utilization of business resources, and in driving growth through innovative uses of information and technology.
China Market:
· Serves as the primary Business Technology point of contact to the China Country Manager and China business unit leaders.
· Responsible for consulting with Country Manager and BU leaders and helping them to determine how technology can best address their business needs and challenges.
· Develops BU specific technology strategies that align with both Market(s) and BU technology strategies. Acts as a conduit for communications and an advocate for Market(s) requirements when technology related initiatives are being rolled out.
Business Technology
· Accountable for the effective delivery of local BT solutions that align with key processes across PAH BT including portfolio management, governance and Solutions Life Cycle (SLC) framework.
Helps business understand service offerings available from internal IT service providers
Secures appropriate resources for projects, engaging with the business, and facilitating service delivery
Collaborates and co-ordinates with regional and global BT functions:
· With Portfolio Management to leverage and provide input to global and regional technology plans,
· With Solution Center to leverage fast market deployment of regional solutions,
· With Enabling Functions, ERP, and Infrastructure, to leverage BT Shared Service support
· Where global and regional solutions are not available, the role ensures local market development aligns with global/regional development and platform standards.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategy and business results:
· Actively participates in Business Leadership Team meetings and advocates technology solutions to meet business needs and goals.
· Responsible for Market(s) technology strategy, delivery and ongoing support. Provides single-point of accountability for technology management, solution delivery and performance (cost and quality)
· Represents BT to the Market(s) ensuring clear, consistent and timely communications and that BT strategy and tactics are understood at all appropriate levels within the business. Solicits appropriate feedback from Market(s) and reports back regional BT as necessary
Architecture, Delivery, and Support
· Articulates BT services and ensures services meet client needs and value expectations, while educating BT on client needs
· Translates client business needs and strategies into cost effective technology solutions and develops and manages client agreed service levels
· Provides business process and technology expertise and consultation to the business
· Works with Market(s) leaders and other BT groups to drive the end-to-end client engagement cycle - from idea generation, through requirement gathering, solution design, build, deployment and support
· Leverages industry and emerging technology innovation to address client strategic business requirements
· Ensures business sponsorship, at the appropriate level, for all technology expenditure.
· Communicates proposed business initiative plans, business cases and budgets to Regional BT team to ensure optimum alignment
· Collaborates with other BT counterparts, to develop a cohesive technology strategy
· Where required, works with third party technology providers to deliver business/market-specific requirements that align with global/regional development and platform standards
· Key metrics include delivering value from technology initiatives, leveraging technology application services to support business strategies, and delivering a high level of customer satisfaction to the business
Leadership
· Provides overall leadership and coordination for all local market BT colleagues and ensures “single face” to clients in meeting their needs.
· Ensures an end-to-end business focused perspective is applied to all technology solution decisions
· Supports effective technology governance and change management
· Ensures compliance with Company and BT policies, standards and practices.
· Actively seeks opportunities to coach and mentor colleagues.
· Ensures talent planning, development, and assessment processes are established and that key talent plans are communicated at regional/global level
Additional responsibilities –in collaboration with functional BT groups, especially Infrastructure, Strategy, Risk, and Governance teams:
· Interact with vendors and vendor technical support for systems maintenance and enhancement
· Analyze and process IT related purchase requisitions, invoices, and quotes
· Negotiate and administer licensing, service, and maintenance contracts, as necessary
· Identify efficient and effective hardware/software solutions for new applications
· Implementation of corporate data security standards
Qualifications
Education:
· University Degree in Computer Science/ Information Systems/Business Administration or other relevant fields. MBA or Equivalent Degree Preferred.
Experience (5+ years experience in the following areas):
· Business process analysis and design; ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
· Clear understanding of software development lifecycle and Application support; Project Management; Working knowledge of networking and systems design
· Familiarity with system development methodologies (preference for Software product engineering and development Product Manager experience)
· Technology experience: Web/Mobile solutions, include eCommerce; Data management and Business intelligence solutions; Sales force automation / Customer relationship management solutions; Call center / customer support technologies
· Experience in a commercial environment, preferably life-sciences, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and resources concurrently, developing budgets and managing forecasts for IT investments.
· Experience in managing major custom or packaged implementation projects with experience delivering to a large or remote external user base, Internet solution experienced preferred.
· Strong knowledge of pharma/animal health business activity
