Job Responsibilities
Synaptics is looking for a Software Application Engineer for its Smart Display Division - Customer Firmware and Software Engineering Organization. Eligible candidates will be working on software/firmware applications running on a variety of OS platforms including Android and other embedded devices. This will primarily be a customerfacing role. Responsibility would include working with external customers, field application engineers, and other internal FW/SW engineering teams as well. Work will involve trouble-shooting a variety of kernel driver issues on Android platforms.
Required Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
BS or greater, preferably in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Technical experience in a few of the following areas
Minimum 3 years experience in developing driver/user mode applications for Android using a variety of development platforms
(Pandaboard/Dragonboard, etc.)
Experience debugging software/firmware issues, including Android host driver and other embedded platforms, working knowledge of EE troubleshooting. etc.
Experience in developing multi-threaded C, C++ or Java applications.
Experience in windows software development (optional)
Hands-on experience with device driver development and troubleshooting embedded interface protocols such as I2C, SPI, MIPI and USB
Willing to travel (50% , focus on China customers)
Solid team player with experience working across teams.
Ability to work creatively and independently with minimum supervision following specifications and project schedule.
Must be able to work with geographically diverse teams.
Desired Qualifications
Experience developing firmware/embedded software for mobile products
Experience in developing display-related device drivers for mobile industry
Experience in developing mobile applications and understanding of the mobile OS ecosystem will be a plus.
Hands-on experience working and debugging hardware/instrument control products.
