Overview:

This team member will be responsible for building and leading a technical team using rigorous engineering methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of technical problems. This team member will be required to design and implement new machine models and options to meet customer needs and make changes to existing models to increase quality and reduce cost. They will also be required to maintain detailed documentation and effectively communicate with the sourcing, operations, manufacturing engineering, and technical support teams. Considerations for safety, quality, cost, and delivery are required in all engineering decisions. The team member should be able to perform within the principles of Lean Manufacturing.


Key Responsibilities & Tasks

? Responsible for the quality of work, reliability, schedule (if appropriate), cost and delegation of tasks on one or more projects and/or Team Members.
? Acts as a mentor to lower level engineering staff and models problem solving skills with a proven ability to develop others.
? Shares responsibility for the effect of technical decisions/judgments on program schedules or goals critical to the organization with other engineers and managers.
? Implement technical projects in the design, development, testing and documentation of heavy material lifting products.
? Perform design and analysis of steel and aluminum components and welded structures, and electrical and hydraulic control systems.
? Develop new designs from initial concept to implementation and improve existing designs.
? Verify and document compliance with applicable ANSI and international standards.
? Specify component and machine testing, create procedures and detail testing processes.
? Work closely with senior design engineers and sustain a dynamic and creative engineering work atmosphere.
? Document designs with solid part models, assemblies, and detailed drawings in SolidWorks.
? Verify designs using traditional analytical methods in conjunction with dynamic and finite element analysis software.
? Create and maintain complete machine product structures including bills of materials, Models and Options, and service parts information.
? Research, specify, and test manufactured and purchased parts working closely with the materials group and suppliers.
? Maintain a focus on design for manufacturability and work closely with the ME department and production facility to assist in product and process improvements.

Experience & Qualifications

? ABET accredited B.S. in Mechanical Engineering OR B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
? Project Management experience is highly preferred.
? Ability to provide effective preventive/corrective actions though use of advanced problem solving skills.
? Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
? Ability to effectively communicate complex technical issues to others and to work cooperatively with both internal and external customers.
? Must hold sufficient ability to create and maintain detailed documentation throughout all phases of research, development implementation, and sustaining.
? Proficient with solid modeling (SolidWorks preferred).
? Excellent PC skills including Excel and Word.
? Experience in machine design or related industry.
? Ability to follow sequenced work associated with complex design tasks.
? Should possess servant leadership characteristics to effectively lead a technical team.
? Capability to utilize wide application of standard mechanical and/or industrial engineering principles, theories and concepts.
? Knowledge of AWP or similar products and components including electronics, electrical circuits, mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, power transmission, and structural members.
? Experience with engineering changes and documentation processes.
? Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
? Strong orientation towards safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
? Ability to perform detailed component and machine testing procedures.
? Knowledge of industry standards and requirements.
? Ability to work on the shop floor.
? Structural and stability analysis experience including FEA.
? Experience with design of electrical and hydraulic systems.
? Understanding of and commitment to Lean Manufacturing.
