Major Responsibilities:

a). Establish and maintain product control systems, in China, that ensure that all CM product is manufactured and audited in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s).

b). Recruit, hire and train engineering and office staff. Schedule and coordinate CM resource allocation in China.

c). Maintain regular communication with CM colleagues throughout the organization.

d). Maintain technical and professional liaisons with local engineering, manufacturing and quality societies.

Advisory Responsibilities

a). Assist, as required, in the technical support of Grinding Media operations and the “China Foundry” project.

b). Provide technical support, upon request, as it may apply to R&D activities in North and South America.


Supervisory and Administrative Responsibilities:

a). Supervise local personnel and ensure that a methodology is in place covering the recruitment, hiring and training of new technical staff.

b). Monitor the departmental budget and assist in its periodic review.

Qualification Requirements:

a). Education and experience: the incumbent possess a four-year university degree in Metallurgical Engineering; and have a minimum of ten years progressive experience in engineering, manufacturing or a related discipline.

b). Language skills: the incumbent must be fluent in Chinese and English and have the ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical specifications, government regulations et cetera. The CE must be able to write letters, technical reports and procedural manuals. Additionally, he must be able to effectively present information in a public forum and be able to objectively respond to questions from colleagues and customers.

c). The CE must have experience using simulation and drafting software and be able to critically assess the inputs and outputs of these as they apply to their operators. A familiarity with Magmasoft simulation tools is highly desirable.
