Job Description:

Perform highly technical electrical transformer design engineering duties that involve responding to customer inquiries, defining product specifications and performance requirements, designing and quoting on new products, and providing for complete specifications, bills-of-material and performance testing criteria for manufacturing requirements, under the general direction of the Chief Engineer.

Analyze customer requirements, define product application size and performance criteria, design magnetic components, and prepare proposals on price, delivery and other related information.

Prepare specifications for prototypes and regular production requirements. Specify materials, provide coil winding operation sheets, assembly instructions, bills-of-material, and applicable engineering drawings, as required, for manufacturing. Review specification change notices (SCN’s) for approval.

Define design drafting requirements and approve of prepared designs and layouts. Define performance characteristics and review test procedures and results for approval. Prepare new test methods in collaboration with Manager, Engineering Laboratory and provide support and assistance to the Quality Assurance function.

Communicate with customers, through Sales, to better define their requirements and provide applications assistance. Collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing Engineering, Accounting and Purchasing functions to provide prompt response and service to customers on new product quotations and follow up on production specification, delivery or other related matters.

Collaborate with superior and other Design Engineers in the day-to-day development of transformer designs, specifications, and testing procedures. Provide support and assistance in the utilization of a computer data base to provide efficient design practices and procedures as well as computer systems in development for manufacturing resources planning.

Develop proprietary component designs with ease of manufacture for the growth and profitability of the Company. Participate in Company presentations to customers. Host outside Inspectors when visiting the plant. Participate in Engineering, Technical, and Trade Association activities to remain abreast of industry developments.

Perform other related duties as assigned or associated with the responsibility.
